The nation is filled with dieters wishing they hadn’t eaten that fruitcake or croissants with extra butter, resolving to make 2016 the year that they finally lose weight. But with all those diet plans and weight loss programs promising to be the “best,” it’s hard to choose the right one. Dr. Ian Smith says he’s created a unique approach in the “Shred Power Cleanse diet.”
In an exclusive interview with the Examiner, Dr. Smith explained that the cleanse works to “hit the reset button” any time you want to jump-start weight loss or overcome a plateau. He emphasized that you get to eat food on his detox diet, rather than try to survive on liquids. While smoothies and shakes are included, you can also enjoy salads, soups and roasted vegetables.
“We tested over a 1,000 people over the summer and the average weight loss was 8-10 pounds in just 2 weeks. With 50 recipes in the back of the book as well as an exercise guide, the Shred Power Cleanse puts it all together for you so that you have a complete program,” shared Dr. Smith.
And Dr. Smith also believes in the benefits of learning to make lifestyle changes rather than going off and on a diet, pointing out that the “ultimate goal is that you learn how to make lifestyle changes that will benefit you for the rest of your life.” That way, rather than thinking in terms of diets, he feels those following the Shred approach will discover how to adopt “an entirely new lifestyle.”
The cleanse approach came about because some of those following the Shred diet asked about doing a detox plan. The two-week Shred Power Cleanse, therefore, provides a path for those who want a cleanse for weight loss and other health issues. “People lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood glucose levels,” added Dr. Smith.
The Shred Power Cleanse varies form day to day, with each providing dieters with four meals and three snacks. Smoothies, shakes, soups, salads, and foods such as oatmeal and roasted veggies comprise the day. The purple smoothies are required during the two-week program.
