Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
What do you think will be the legacy of “Downton Abbey”?
Joanne Froggatt: It’s incredible to be part of something that’s been so successful. I think we all feel fortunate to have been a part of this show. It’s been one of the biggest TV shows to come out of England for many years. And I think we all feel incredibly proud to have finished six seasons of the show, and have been a part of that and the joy that comes with that and the rollercoaster ride that has been “Downton Abbey.” It’s always something we’ll be attached to and we’ll always be very proud of. It’s a great feeling. Thank you.
What would you like to say to your British fans?
Allen Leech: It’s been a most amazing six years. And the support we’ve had, especially in Britain, has been incredible. So thank you very much to all the fans of the show. Thanks for watching over the six years. We loved bringing it. Thanks for taking those characters to your hearts.
What’s special about the area of the world where you filmed “Downton Abbey”? Any favorite places?
Leech: I can recommend The Carnarvon Arms. It’s got excellent cider, at 6 percent. It’s called Old Rosie. After four of them, you forget your own name. I highly recommended it. It got me and Rob James-Collier through many a cold evening.
What it was about “Downtown Abbey” that made it have such a wide audience?
Lesley Nicol: I think I’ll answer that question on behalf of everybody because we get asked that question. Have we got clue? We haven’t. The great writing and casting seemed to gel. To use Julian [Fellowes’] line, if he knew, he’d write a string of them. We don’t know, but we were in it, and we were thrilled to have been part of it.
