Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are comparing wives today on the heels of a picture posted online of Melania Trump appearing nude in a 15-year-old ad. This was a blatant a dig aimed at Donald Trump, despite Melania appearing in a tasteful pose as a model. The picture was posted online in an attempt to discredit the possible next first lady and it urged voters to vote for Cruz.
Trump put out a warning in the beginning of his campaign that he won’t throw the first punch, but beware to those who do because the top GOP candidate will bite back harder. When the super PAC Make America Awesome plastered pictures of Melania Trump showing a lot of skin in the 15-year-old GQ ad all over Facebook, Trump took that as the first punch.
Us Magazine on March 24 describes how Trump ultimately posted an “unflattering” picture of Heidi Cruz alongside a flattering picture of Melania Trump. This was nothing as drastic in comparison to the original picture of Melania that was a dig at Trump, but it was Trump’s way of biting back for the picture posted of Melania in the GQ ad.
While the ad was tastefully done for GQ Magazine 15 years ago, the caption of the super PAC’s version put an inappropriate spin on it. Melania was a model at the time and this was her job, but on the photo read the words: “Meet Melania Trump, your next first lady. Or, you could support Ted Cruz on Tuesday.” This ad was posted ahead of the Tuesday primaries in Utah targeting the Mormon voters.
The super PAC Make America Awesome is not the typical super PAC that is created to support a candidate. This super PAC has an anti-Trump theme, they are out to get Trump. According to The Washington Post today, “Make America Awesome was formed to hurt Trump’s candidacy rather than to help a particular presidential candidate.”
Candidates are to have no dealings with the super PACs, so say the campaign rules, but that didn’t stop Trump from believing that Cruz was behind this. Again, Trump warned that if you go after him, he’s coming after you. He even tweeted a warning to Cruz saying “Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”
Cruz tweeted back, “Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you’re more of a coward than I thought. #classless” Trump knows better, he believes Cruz had a hand in the picture. He tweeted the next day, “Lyin’ Ted Cruz denied that he had anything to do with the G.Q. model photo post of Melania. That’s why we call him Lyin’ Ted!”
After hearing enough from Cruz and how he had nothing to do with Melania’s picture, Trump bit back by tweeting a picture of Ted Cruz’s wife, Heidi Cruz next to a picture of Melania Trump with the words posted, “ No need to spill the beans. An image is worth a thousand words.”
Cruz then posted on Twitter, “Donald, real men don’t attack women,” Ted wrote. “Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life.”
As the video above suggests, the real winner of this fight is GQ Magazine who posted the photo shoot they did with Melania back in 2,000, which for sure is gathering quite a few clicks of curiosity today! She looks beautiful in the GQ pictures seen in the video above and it was a tastefully done photo shoot.
