If Donald Trump was like everyone else, you wouldn’t see him on TV constantly with crowds chanting his name, you would just get a quick glimpse of the man giving a speech in a conference room somewhere instead of an arena. Basically this is what Trump said when recently asked if he planned on toning it down, as was reported by his handlers recently.
As CNN Politics reports on April 23, Trump says “I’ve got to be different,” and he’s right. He is the first to confess that by being the gregarious and somewhat entertaining politician, it has put him where he is today. Without that, Trump said to a crowd, we would be standing in a conference room with very few folks in attendance.
Instead Trump stands before crowds and there’s usually a crowd outside that couldn’t get in because the venue is full. Trump being Trump is what the people come to see. At one point while in Waterbury he talked about Cruz and how he claims Trump won’t build a wall. Trump cut all the politically correct ways of putting Cruz in his place and instead said, “What the hell does this have to do with the wall? Believe me, I’m building the wall.”
This is what people come to see, a man who shoots from the hip! It works for him and this attitude, which some might see as arrogance, will work for you too when he puts this attitude to work in the White House.
As The New York Times reports, “Trump frowns on idea of toning it down, despite aids comments.” Trump’s newly installed campaign chief, Paul Manafort, had suggested that Trump would be “evolving” and some thought he was conveying that the top GOP candidate would “tone it down” as the election draws near. That is not how Trump took this. He explained: “Paul was down in Florida and he said, ‘You know, Donald might be changing a little bit over a period of time and he — maybe he’ll tone it down, maybe he won’t, but who knows what happens?’ And for now, nothing happens, Trump will continue to be himself, that same self that put him on top!
Trump wowed the crowds in Waterbury and Bridgeport in Connecticut over the weekend and they came to see the Donald Trump they’ve come to know, not a toned down version. At one point Trump stood there and in a monotone voice pretended to read from a teleprompter like Hillary Clinton to show just how boring he’d appear if he were like the rest of the candidates.
As “Fox and Friends Weekend” live suggested on Sunday morning, Trump can’t get much more transparent than this. He is telling you he gets the attention because of the way he acts and not sugar coating a thing! It appears safe to say that you shouldn’t be holding your breath waiting for Trump to come out with a more subdued and gentle manner. It also seems safe to say that this is not what his supporters would want to see!
