In Rowlett, Texas a pet owner pulled his two dogs out of the wreckage of his completely destroyed home on Monday – two days after the heartbreaking tragedy of a tornado which devastated the entire area, reports Fox4News.
Michael Delgado and his daughters were at a movie theater when the EF-3 tornado struck. Relatives in the home hid in a closet and were not injured. Delgado mourned the loss of his dogs, and two days later he returned to the rubble and heard muffled barking sounds coming from beneath the rubble. Family and friends from the community church began digging into the ruins as the barking sounds soon became louder. The first dog to be rescued was Sawyer, the yellow Labrador retriever; shortly after came Lucy, the family’s miniature pinscher who made sure she kept barking until she was scooped up into the safe arms of her rescuer.
Both dogs were rushed to an area veterinarian. Sawyer is being monitored for swelling, but there were no broken bones and the lucky pooches are expected to make a full recovery.
