Is it a dog, or is it a bear? A cute animal that is breaking the Web today has everyone asking that question in what is likely one of the first viral photos of the New Year this 2016. A dog that indeed looks like a bear has made a popular appearance across social media this week mainly because Internet users can’t seem to decide whether this fuzzy little guy is of the Ursidae family or Canis lupus familiaris. Canada Journal News offers some helpful insight into this ever so important question this January 7, 2016.
According to the report, there have been thousands upon thousands of Web users, young and old, who have sounded off on their opinions whether this dog that looks like a bear is the former or the latter. A few people apparently believe the cute and wide-eyed creature might even somehow be some kind of hybrid between the two. Others are under the impression this animal mystery is simply a large breed of bush dog. Still others were dead-set on the belief that this must be a type of bear, even if it is a little one.
At long last, however, it appears that this unbelievably adorable mystery has reached its conclusion. Some solid investigating online, courtesy of Buzzfeed’s very own Rachel Zarrell, has yielded a solution, and it all traces back to the source of the original dog that looks like a bear image. Those who were convinced this was a type of dog were, in fact, in the right.
According to MSN Country Living News, RedFoxx, a user on social media website Reddit, was the original poster of the now viral picture. The photo had been originally captioned as, “Somebody brought this bear into doggie day care.” This unusually accurate comparison likely helped spark the fun debate online as to whether this cute and fuzzy creature was indeed a species of man’s best friend or an endearing bear.
The animal featured in the image is apparently a Pomeranian cross breed. One can see it if they look hard enough, I suppose. Yet some people still believe that there might somehow be a little bit of bear blood in this dog. In any case, it seems that we can close this chapter on this hit viral question that took the online world by storm this week. The furball mystery is a mystery no more—for most, at least. Are you convinced this is a Pomeranian cross breed?
In other popular and controversial animal news trending across the Web recently, some are speaking out about a new animal cloning plant in China. Considered to be a potential mass production factory, the cloning plant would work to make immense amounts of various animals, including horses and dogs, for the production of meat and possible pets. In a project that would cost over $20 million, the cloning animal production line might be ready in as little as one year if all funding and planning goes according to schedule.
