German Shepherd Dogs (GSD) are known for their loyalty and dedication to the people they consider family. One such GSD demonstrated a real act of courage and obedience in Longwood, Florida at the end of April 2016. Helping to save his human family from their burning home with no training proves that these dogs have an innate sense of assistance and rescue. Known to be a working breed, Maxx showed his true colors leading firefighters to the two children despite smoke and flames. Earlier the mother of the four-year-old son and two-year-old daughter was pulled from the home by neighbors who had seen the smoke billowing from the dwelling. When firefighters arrived, they quickly located the father and children with Maxx’s help. To have the dog’s help must have been an incredible experience for the firefighters in Seminole County.
GSD’s originated in Germany and were initially bred for herding sheep, hence, the working group they are categorized. They have been recognized for their incredible intelligence, strength, and trainability. These characters have led them to be used in many roles to include search and rescue, police and military tactics, and even trained for leading the blind and physically challenged. The GSD is one of the most popular breeds of dogs in the United States.
Maxx was treated for smoke inhalation, and the human family members were hospitalized. Read the full story. Dogs are one of life’s amazing creatures created for human companionship. Love and hug your canine kids extra tight tonight; you never know when they might save your life.
