The “mentalist date” may be one of your most unusual ways to spend an evening. It’s likely to be one of the more enjoyable dates you will go on in a most unexpected manner. So forget the movie. Forget the “out-to-dinner date” and find a mentalist playing in a neighborhood near you.
What is a mentalist date? At first you might think you are going to a party where someone will layout what it’s like to run into people with schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder and other such infirmities. No, that would be a mental list date. The mentalist date is all about seeing a mentalist put on a stage show. A mentalist is akin to a mind reader. On this particular evening, The Chabad of Cherry Hill New Jersey had their annual men’s club meeting where they hosted Marc Salem, renown mentalist, who has appeared all over the world, has been on Broadway as well as Sixty Minutes, CNN, The O’Reilly Factor and many more television shows. He is one of the world authorities on non-verbal communications, and even does work for the CIA and TSA. Marc has two doctorates, one from NYU and one from University of Pennsylvania. Yes, he’s a professor, too.
The Chabad supplied hors d’ oeuvres that were delicious and like a full meal along with desserts. They really know how to entertain. The food was abundant and scrumptious, especially the desserts.
It’s seems that we communicate only 7 percent verbally (words), 38 percent vocally (volume, intonation, tone etc.) and 55 percent body language (facial expression, posture, gesture etc.). As such, Marc picks up on things that allow him to appear to read minds, hence the term mentalist. While he claims he cannot read minds and practices nothing occult, it sure seems like he’s reading minds in an amazingly manner. Besides reading minds, how did he count off the dollar bill serial number by touching the number while blindfolded? This guy is the real deal in getting you to believe people really can read your mind. He provides a most interesting and enjoyable show for your date night. Next time a mentalist is playing in your town, get there. Because it’s not so easy to find a mentalist, checkout the Sixty Minutes link above to see Marc stump Mike Wallace with this amazing “talent.” Oh, make sure that what ever you are thinking when sitting in the audience of a mind reader is okay for your date to find out. He just may spill the beans.
