This week American Art Retreat Gettysburg is celebrating the art of Disney® animation with the presentation of The Art of Disney: Ninety Years of Genius. This presentation comprises of two special ticketed events, one to take place on April 29 and the other on April 30.
Both events will be presented by Disney’s own Ken Shue and Hans Teesma. Ken Shue is Disney’s Vice President of Global Art and Design, and Hans Teesma is an artistic designer for Disney picture books.
Join the gentlemen Friday evening, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wyndham Gettysburg for “The Art of Disney Publishing.” This unique presentation offers a look into the creative process behind Disney artwork, old and new alike, for storybooks and film. The men will also discuss the importance of developing good work practices, how to organize and utilize studio space, ways to find inspiration, and how to overcome artist’s block. They will also bring with them a selection of vintage Disney artwork straight from the Disney Vault to share with all those in attendance. Guests will be given the opportunity to ask questions in the Question and Answers session following the presentation.
This dining and art event includes a rustic French dinner prepared by Wyndham’s Executive Chef Claude Rodier as well as an open bar for those 21 years of age and older. The Disney magic continues Saturday morning at Gateway Theater with “Making Magic: The Art of Disney Storybooks.” This program, designed for kids to enjoy with parents, will explain how Disney creates art and even teach youngsters how to draw everyone’s favorite mouse, Mickey Mouse®. This program will look at selected illustrations from some of Disney animation’s most recent projects and offer up a special Questions and Answers session. Snacks and drinks will be provided during this event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
