Brian Dickman, owner of Deep Space has described the Deep Space Comedy Nights as “the antidote for the stress of life…work, school, family and money! When your computer gets all bogged down and slow after running too many programs, a reboot will get it running better for a while with the reboot for YOU!” There is a new twist to comedy nights this year with the City of Parker allowing alcohol sales, by means of a cash bar, which will benefit local non-profits. Yes, while you enjoy the night with friends, co-workers or family you can now have a couple of cocktails.
With alcohol sales at these events we ask everyone to drink responsibly, do not drink and drive and have a designated driver. You must have a valid ID to purchase alcohol. Deep Space has the right to refuse alcohol sales to anyone at their discretion.
The non-profits they have chosen to support are:
- The Parker Task Force, an all-volunteer organization that provides food, limited financial assistance and other support services to people in need in the Parker, Franktown and Elizabeth areas.
- The Boy Scouts of America’s Colorado Adventure Point, a 20,000-square-foot, indoor adventure facility that seeks to improve educational opportunities in Colorado by combining the wide variety of skills and knowledge taught through the Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs with best educational practices. All money raised for Colorado Adventure Point will go towards expanding the hands-on education CAP makes available to the schools and youth of Colorado.
- The Castillo Family Foundation, a new nonprofit created by Omar and Carrie Castillo to support families going through the adoption process.
So how does comedy night work? Brian Dickman, the owner of Deep Space and Pam Terpenny, Just Call Pam, have teamed up by setting up Friday nights where you can rent a table for your family friends or co-workers, enjoy your dinner and be entertained by some of the best local comedians the area has to offer. Tables are available for two to eight people starting at $20 to $50. If you have more people coming and need more space please contact Brian and let him know your needs at (720) 675-7932 Reserve your table(s) by clicking here. Order dinner from a local restaurant and either pick it up or have it delivered to Deep Space. If you have chosen the delivery option please insure someone from your party will be there to receive and pay for the delivery. While you are waiting for the show to begin you can enjoy dinner or if you have already had dinner you can wander around Deep Space’s Art Gallery, which is the largest indoor art gallery in Parker and see what else they have to offer.
While you are finishing up with your dinner, approximately 7:00 p.m., the show will begin starring Pam Terpenny and The Red Shirt Landing Party featuring Meredith Badler, Emily Coates, Lindsay Giachetti, Jesse Greaves-Smith, Tom Hobelman, and Micah Smidt, who will bombard you with Stand-up Comedy and Improv. The show is as family friendly as they can get it with an occasional slip of the tongue, the comedians will feed off of suggestions from the audience and you just never know what to expect, but they try real hard to keep it clean. Participation is highly recommended. The show will end at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Deep Space is located at 11020 S Pikes Peak Dr, Parker, CO 80138. For directions click here.
We recommend and encourage highly for you and your guests to order dinner from one of our local restaurants. We feel we have some of the best restaurants waiting for you to try and we are sure you will not be disappointed. Who knows you may find a new place to take friends and family to on those special occasions. There are many choices from your nationally known fast food to some special establishments which we know you will enjoy, many of which are walking distance from Deep Space like the Texas Diner & Pie Company, which is in the same building as Deep Space, Portofino Pizza and Pasta, Inc., Indochine Cuisine, Parker Garage, Café China and Vines Wine Bar & Bistro just to name a few.
There are three things the comedy nights are trying to succeed in; an enjoyable night out with friends, family or co-workers where you have been removed of those stressors of life and work, great comedy and support of local businesses and non-profits.
There are three more Comedy Nights scheduled for March 18, 2016, April 15, 2016, and May 6th, 2016.
You can visit our local Chamber of Commerce by clicking here to find a restaurant.
