Davin’s Dream Team Dares to Dream Big Aiming for $10k on 5/3 Give Day
At noon on May 3, during the Third Annual Give Day Tampa Bay hosted by the Community Foundation, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Davin Joseph is hoping a big dream becomes reality. His non-profit organization, Davin’s Dream Team along with local business supporters invested in helping fight childhood hunger hopes to raise the final funds needed to build a philanthropic food truck called Burger Champ.
The idea came to the organization last year and asking the community to create this vessel for good with them seems the most-fitting way to finalize the collaboration. The Burger Champ truck will champion the fight against hunger by selling gourmet burgers at favorite Tampa events with 100% of proceeds supporting Davin’s Dream Team programs that provide nutritional meals to student athletes in Title I schools around the Tampa Bay area. To date, the organization has a growing roster of supporters including the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, Elder Ford Automotive and Florida Blue.
“It’s exciting to have the whole community join together in creating a way that provides ongoing benefit to the kids in our community that need it.” said Joseph, founder of Davin’s Dream Team. “We are so proud of this vision and all that we’ve accomplished so far, but our mission is far from over and realizing our dreams to fight hunger on a larger scale is best done in together with the businesses and residents in the area.” he added.
The Burger Champ philanthropy food truck is the next step in expanding their meals program from five Title I high schools to 10 throughout Florida. Since beginning the program in 2011, Davin’s Dream Team has delivered more than 15,000 nutritious pregame meals and snacks to high school student athletes.
The “big dream” to raise $10,000 on May 3 will finalize the costs needed to equip the truck for launch and operation this fall. Davin’s Dream Team is specifically asking folks to participate in this fundraising effort over their lunch breaks as they remember the many food insecure in Tampa going without. Your donation will finalize funding needed to get this Burger Champ vessel of hope rolling on the streets of Tampa Bay early this fall.
