Stage Aurora is taking “Frat House” to a new location. For those of you who have seen previous productions, you will note that this time it will be in a totally NEW venue: the Amelia Musical Playhouse at Fernandina Beach, Florida will present two shows at their iconic theater. If you’ve never seen “Frat House”, treat yourself and a friend to this foot-stomping, theatrical music comedy.
About the Show: “Frat House” is a modern-day ‘Prodigal Son’ comedic musical that tells the story of Thomas, the son of a Pastor, who leaves home to attend college and then joins a fraternity against his father’s advice. “Frat House” is the recipient of 2 Festival Favorite Awards at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival. It’s filled with high-kick-steppin, soul-shakin-music, and a 70’s fraternity house party scene; you need to be in attendance. “Frat House” will make you laugh, cry, and shake-your-groove-thang. This award-winning production features Gospel music, Dance, Rap, and tons of laughter packed with a powerful message!
About the Cast: Features AMP actor Patrick Johnson (last seen in HAIR) and Fernandina’s Branden Perry. Isaiah Houston serves as Musical Director while Gwendolyn Collins, Tony Williams, and Dorian Hooper created the Step Choreography. The cast consists of over 30 talented local artists. AMP is thrilled to welcome this talented group of performers to their stage!
About the Creator: As a professional actor for over 20 years, Darryl Reuben Hall has had the privilege to perform on hundreds of stages across the world. He has found it mesmerizing to stand on stage as the actor and look out over the audience and experience the sheer surprise in the eyes of the attendees. Creator Darryl Reuben Hall (Director) has performed on Broadway in Porgy and Bess (Lincoln Center), National Tour of Cinderella starring the legendary Eartha Kitt, Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, and Linda Eder: The Holiday Concert at the Palace. Hall is an actor best known for Hitch, Men In Black 3, Oz, Down To Earth, The Wiz, and many more. Darryl is the founder of Stage Aurora Theatrical Company with a mission ‘to enlighten the mind by way of the Arts through the African-American experience.’ Mr. Hall is more than thrilled to bring his work to Amelia Island.
