The “Dancing With the Stars 2016” live stream online and televised premier arrives on Monday night with the latest DWTS Season 22 cast ready to hit the dance floor. One pairing of a celebrity and their professional dance partner will end up winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy for the latest installment of this hit show. It won’t be multiple-time champion Derek Hough winning this time around, making way for a new dance pro to capture the title. Among the favorites seem to be several professional football stars, a sitcom star, and a mixed martial arts beauty from the UFC. The 2016 DWTS live streaming and televised premier for this latest season arrives on Monday via ABC networks.
According to Washington Post in their March 21 preview, judge Len Goodman will be back with Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, while hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews also make their returns. The brother and sister duo of Derek and Julianne Hough will be missing, as they’ll be taking time away to work on a different project. Derek is the reigning champion from last season after he and Bindi Irwin captured the latest trophy. Julianne was on the judges panel, providing her critique and feedback of the various celebrity dancers’ performances throughout the season. Among this season’s interesting choices of cast members will be Marla Maples, the ex-wife of the GOP’s top Presidential candidate right now, Donald Trump. There will also be two NFL stars, one of which recently won the Super Bowl MVP, as well as a rising star in the ranks of the UFC. A variety of reality stars, actors, actresses and TV personalities round out the cast.
Heading into tonight’s first episode, the favorite to win according to the Bovada LV online sports book is UFC fighter Paige Van Zant. She’s listed as a +200 favorite to win it all, but football player Antonio Brown of Pittsburgh Steelers fame is next up with +400 odds. Actress Jodie Sweetin, from “Full House” and “Fuller House” fame, is a +500 favorite, followed by Denver Broncos reigning Super Bowl MVP, Von Miller. Wayna Morris is listed at +100, with Kim Fields, Geraldo and Nyle DiMarco all receiving +1400 odds. Mischa Barton is at +1500, followed by ABC’s own meteorologist Ginger Zee at +2000. Doug Flutie and Marla Maples are the biggest long shots as of right now with prices of +2500.
What will be most interesting to see are the various storylines of this latest DWTS season, including which of the two football stars performs better. Will it come down to both of them in the final three? Also, don’t forget about former football star, Flutie, who at 53, could shock the world if he pulls off some good dance moves. Also of interest on the show will be 30-something TV actresses Sweetin and Barton from “Full House” and “The O.C.,” hit shows. Which of these two ladies will have the better scores and compete for the Mirrorball Trophy? How far will ABC personality Ginger Zee go through the weeks? Despite being a relatively large underdog on the odds, she may have the backing of all those ABC “Good Morning America” viewers to help her along.
