Automotive shows are popular wherever they are held. The most popular and well attended shows, however, are those with a long history and reaching the public with a wide variety of display vehicles. The DFW Auto Show is celebrating their 35th anniversary, which is happening during Spring Break week for many in the North Texas area.
The show runs from Wednesday, March 16 through Sunday, March 20, 2016. It is being held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas. Long-time automobile dealer Don Herring Jr is the show chairman this year and he had plenty of comments to make. “The DFW Auto Show has always been the best place in the Metroplex for serious car shoppers to look, compare, test drive, and dream,” he said.
Throughout the large space, there is a vast array of new vehicles, some of which are new products and others are updated or redesigned. There are even a variety of 2017 models on display. Two new models, the 2017 Mazda CX-9 and the 2016 Toyota 4Runner Tforce, made their Texas debut for journalists prior to the show opening. A special feature before the official ribbon-cutting and opening to the public, was the US debut of the all-new Rezvani Beast X. Journalists were especially impressed with the Rezvani and the opportunity to meet and visit with Ferris Rezvani, the founder and CEO.
During the media preview day, special presentations were made by RAM trucks, Chrysler Pacifica, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Malibu, Ford Escape, Life Rolls On Foundation, Nissan Sentra, Nissan Titan XD, Mazda CX-9, Toyota 4Runner Tforce, and the Rezvani Beast X.
During the show, special Spring Break activities will be available for children in the ‘Kids Zone.’ The area will feature a 24-foot inflatable duel slide, a Monster Truck Bounce House, Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, and an Art Center Station.
In addition to all the new vehicles and Kids Zone, there are many additional exhibits and displays including about 100 classic vehicles. The ‘classics’ are on display courtesy members of the Corvette Classics, Dallas Classic Chevys, Lone Star Corvette Club, North Texas Mustang Club, Pack Automotive Museum, and Z Club.
The DFW Auto Show is sponsored by the Dallas Fort Worth New Car Dealers Association, which is a trade group made up of about 200 car dealers over 11 different North Texas counties. The DFW-NCDA also sponsored a sister DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth later in the year. The show opens at 10:00 am with various closing times depending upon the day. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for seniors & young children. Discount tickets are available at participating car dealerships throughout the metroplex.
