On Wednesday, we heard the “Canary Cry” of Star City’s Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) one last time on CW’s “Arrow”. Now, her legacy has crossover to CW’s “The Flash”.
The CW has released the synopsis for the May 17 penultimate episode entitled “Invincible”, which is what this season’s villain Zoom (Teddy Sears) thinks of himself as when releasing an army of Earth-2 meta-humans to Central City. Once more, Barry (Grant Gustin) gets emotionally involved when he discovers that the Black Siren, the leader, is the Earth-2 doppelganger of his friend Laurel, whom Cisco (Carlos Valdes) had a superhero crush on. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) becomes concerned over Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale)’s decision to help the Flash protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans, as Henry (original Flash John Wesley Shipp) and Iris (Candice Patton) worries over Barry fighting Zoom.
In the comics, the Black Siren was a heroine who was a member of the Justice Guild, the predecessor of the Justice League whose members includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Black Canary, who was also a member of the Justice Society as well as a founding member of the Birds of Prey.
“Arrow” and “The Flash” have already been renewed by the CW for the 2016-17 season. Grant Gustin is the Fastest Man Alive known as “The Flash” every Tuesday night, followed by Stephen Amell aiming even higher for justice as the Green Arrow on “Arrow” every Wednesday night.
