This year marks the 20th for Cumberland Valley School of Music’s annual dinner, dance, and auction. The event, which will take place on Feb. 27, features the theme of Havana Nights, complete with Latin flavor and rhythm.
Come out and be a part of this wonderful benefit for the school while enjoying great ongoing entertainment, delicious food, and a chance to bid on some fabulous offers. The event will be held at The Orchards Restaurant in Chambersburg, and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with champagne toast and lavish three-course meal.
The menu, by Chef Mike Kalathas, will offer Latin-inspired appetizers, a salad, a choice of entrée (4 oz. Red wine and Cuban rubbed filet, seafood paella, or vegetarian black bean-plantain paella), and tres leches cake for dessert. Wine and beer beverages will accompany the meal. You can view the menu here.
For your entertainment, Kenny i Band will be accompanying the meal, and by extension the evening, with live music. To read more about them, click here. Dance instructor José Ricardo of Shippensburg will also be at the event to instruct, teach and lead the way to salsa dancing.
In addition to great food and entertainment, the fundraiser’s highlight for the evening comes in the form of silent and live auctions and a special raffle. The item featured in the raffle, a 14 karat white gold Art Deco style diamond ring with a total weight of .37 ct., comes from a generous endowment by Ludwig’s Jewelers. Items to bid on during the event range in a vast assortment of different selections, from services, clothing and accessories, themed gift baskets, and even trips and ticketed specials. Some of the featured bids include, but are not limited to: a whiskey lover’s basket, a Syren Signature II Electric Guitar, several available overnight getaway packages, a private one-hour plane ride for three, a guided tour of Antietam battlefield and lunch at a historic home with Civil War author Steven Stolemyer, and a private in-home or event concert with The Hello Strangers band, recently featured in Rolling Stone® among “30 Great Country Albums of 2015 You Probably Didn’t Hear.” Plenty of other bids are being added to the mix as well. Additionally, this year there will be a “Fund-a-Need” option at the auction, in which attendees will be permitted to pledge contributions to Cumberland Valley School of Music’s scholarship fund.
