Yesterday Adobe announced their newest mobile app Adobe Post. This new app is the latest in a growing number of mobile apps in the Adobe Creative Cloud arsenal. It is a member of Adobe’s mobile storytelling apps Adobe Voice & Adobe Slate. Adobe Post is a free app that allows people with little or no design training to create great looking visual content for social media. By using what Adobe is calling Design Filters and the Inspiration Wall, anyone can create sophisticated social graphics in seconds. Here a quick overview.
When you first open the app you’ll come to the Inspiration Wall. This is a series of curated designs. These are preset templates that you can use to start your design. So there’s no need to start from scratch, of course unless you want to. Even so, all of your designs are saved so that you can use them in the future.. If you do choose to use a pre-designed template, it is completely customizable. You simple type in your text and Adobe Post will use Magic Text to automatically resize that text. You can change the size, font, and color simply by resizing the text box. You can even save variations as separate designs.
Next you can use photos that are in your camera’s Camera Roll or you can search the internet using Google and Creative Commons to find just the right royalty free photo for your post. If you do use Adobe Post’s search option the photo will be saved for future use inside Adobe Post. Once you have your text and image content, you can use Adobe Post’s Design Filters to give your message some design swag. Much like Instagram’s Photo Filters, Design Filters offer the non designer the ability to use shapes and color for a professional look quickly. You can of course re-color your design as well as drag and resize all of the design elements in your newly created social media post.
Once your done, you can share your new design to your social media networks within Adobe Post. For now, those direct social links are for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also email your design to others. Don’t forget, all of your designs are saved in Adobe Post and remain completely editable. This is a great tool if you are a small business owner, non-profit organization, educator, or simply a design challenged social savvy individual that needs to step up their social graphic chops a few notches quickly and for free.
Adobe Post is ready for download right now, but alas, it is only for iPhone using iOS 8 and later, is in English only but it is free without the need of a Creative Cloud subscription. The Android version should be available in the near future. You can download the app here.
