Everyone dreams about what they would buy if they won the lottery. But there’s some pretty cool things out there that you don’t need to win the lottery to own. Let’s look at a few.
The Minibrew beer brewing system. The Minibrew is a small appliance that allowed you to brew your own beer just by dumping a bunch of ingredients into it and waiting a short number of days for it to ferment. Will you ever buy beer again? If you’re a beer lover–yes. You can make 1.3 gallons of 50 kinds of beer and it’s a fun hobby to experiment and make various beers. It’s cute and it’s fun and makes a great gift for the beer lover who has everything. The Minibrew is not out on store shelves yet but will be later this year, Minibrew
Another small appliance for your kitchen is Keurig Kold which makes for you a tall frosty glass of soda. Unlike the soda makers out on the shelves, Keurig has made the process as simple and fast as Keurig made coffee. Just pop in a pod, add water, and the machine does it’s stuff in about a minute–unlike the others there’s no refilling CO2 canisters. The carbonation ingredients are included in the pod. You have a choice of all varieties of Coke, Fanta, Dr. Pepper, Sprite and Canada Dry Gingerale. Ok, that was the upside, now the down…at $1 per glass (a four-pack will set you back $4-$5) you may want to wait until it’s not quite so new, and the price comes down, the kids leave home, or until you win that lottery. Keurig also has cocktail pods, iced tea, craft sodas, and flavored water pods to use with this same countertop machine. The machine itself will set you back $369.99. It’s available online.
I’d like to introduce you to June, she’s a wiz in the kitchen . No, she’s not a maid, cook, or even a Martha Steward clone. June is a countertop oven that bakes, toasts, slow cooks, and broils, but makes her unique is that she identifies what you want to cook and sets the perfect time and cooking temperature. She can ID 15 different categories of food including meat, bakery, pizza, and so much more. Basically, she does everything but wash the baking dish after dinner. June allows you to check your food and control the oven from anywhere and she sends you cooking statuses like the temp of your meat and how long before dinner using your IPhone–you can actually watch your food cook on the phone! You have to see it to believe it. June will hit store shelves this spring with a price tag of around $1,495 (worth it).
First there was ice in the door, then water and ice in the door, then filtered water and ice in the door, then hot water in the door, now GE’s New Café refrigerator has a built-in Keurig machine in the door! The ice and water is still there but now you can pop in a pod and get your favorite Starbucks, Folgers, Pumpkin Spice Latte, or Espresso fix– or whatever your heart desires–without taking up any counter space at all. GE’s advanced water filtration and no refill capabilities makes it even more convenient than the Keurig’s countertop cousin. You can turn it on with your phone so your coffee is freshly made when you walk in the door or step out of the shower. The fridge is just as awesome with French doors, bottom freezer, and loads of other features. Take a look .
Look out Kim Kardashian! Toasted Selfies Toaster allows you to put your face on a slice of toast. Why? So you can eat it, pass it around, amaze your friends, sell it on Ebay–whatever. It’s done with a customized plate that is made from your selfie upload. The toasters are the brain child of the Vermont Novelty Toast Corp and they come in five colors. These make great gifts. Check it out!
If you’re like me you know deep fried foods are not good for you and you’re not without a pang of guilt as you’re scarfing down the French fries and chicken. Well, we can finally have our fried favorites and enjoy them too without that pang of guilt and fear. The new Airfryer XL does all your conventional fryer did, but this cooker uses very little oil and fries your chicken, potatoes, fish, etc. with high rapid air technology–in short; hot wind. It produces crispy fries, chips, wings, and such with no turning, 80% less fat, fewer calories, and no guilt (unless you simply eat too much). These are around $349 in most stores and the Aircooker in their smaller Viva Collection can be had for a cool $159 if you shop smart. Take a look .
I can’t think of a guy in Wisconsin (other than an AA member) who wouldn’t want one of the Retro Northstar Fridges With Beer Tap in the door. Think free-flowing beer and an awesome retro 50’s style refrigerator for the man cave. Sold by Elmira Stove Works these are faithful reproductions of the Northstar refrigerators (you may remember from the old Happy Days episodes) which can be ordered with a draft beer dispenser. The design allows you to make room inside the fridge for a keg of beer which is hooked up to the door dispenser. The rest of the refrigerator remains available for food. Check it out here.
