Attention all tequila connoisseurs and hobby bartenders. Here’s your chance to have your best original Margarita recipe featured on the menu of Winter Park’s Tex-Mex restaurant Cocina 214.
To celebrate National Margarita Day, which is Monday, February 22, Cocina 214 is on the hunt for Central Florida’s best original Margarita recipes. To compete in a live Margarita contest in front of celebrity judges, participants have to submit their recipe by February 15 and must be at least 21 years old to enter. The only tequilas to be used are Patron, Tierras and Sauza Tres Generaciones.
Three finalists will be chosen and notified by Thursday, February 18. Cocina 214 reserves the right to keep and use all recipes submitted. The contest will be held at Cocina 214, 151 E. Welbourne Ave., Winter Park, FL. The three finalists will make their margarita recipe for judging at 6:30 p.m. Finalists are required to bring their own ingredients (except for tequila which will be provided by Cocina 214). Cocina 214 will host a party while the celebrity judges make their decision.
Criteria will include 0-50 points for Taste (flavor and balance); 0-10 points for Originality (unique feature or component); 0-10 points for Creativity (blend of all ingredients); and 0-30 points for presentation.
Winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. Prizes will be:
- 1st place winner receives $100 gift card to Cocina 214 and their creation will be featured on the restaurant’s menu.
- 2nd place receives a $50 gift card to Cocina 214
- 3rd place receives a $25 gift card to Cocina 214.
