Vacuuming is a part of life, or should be if one cares about the upkeep of where they live. Or cares about minimizing the negative effects of dust and pollen on allergy and asthma sufferers. Or those who find pet hair no every time they turn around. But for a vacuum to be effective it needs not just to work, but to work well. That doesn’t mean it has to be a huge beast though — especially if the space it’s going to be used in isn’t the size of the Grand Canyon. That’s a shout-out to Dyson’s Small Ball Multi Floor Vacuum Cleaner.
The Small Ball is well designed for apartments and other locations that are less “spacey” than the typical house. The fact that it weighs less than 13 lbs. also makes it easier to maneuver physically (as in move from one location to the other or put away) — something that seniors and others who might have trouble with a full sized Dyson can get behind. Add to that a retractable handle and that smaller space in the kitchen corner or closet becomes more accessible. But all this is not to say that the Small Ball is less effective or efficient than its larger sized siblings. It’s not.
Dyson vacuums always offer a better value as regards cost versus effectiveness. There’s a number of reasons for that — one being the way these vacuums gather in dust — using Tier Radial cyclones method that saves time and repeated use by doing a strong job the first time out by increasing the air flow for capturing the fine dust that ends up remaking and building up over time when other vacuums are being used (don’t forget the carbon fiber filaments integration here either). Add to that a self-adjusting cleaning head that creates a better seal between surface and vacuuming too. Plus the lack of a bag (no cost there) and the ease of disposal (pop off the cylinder, center it over the trash can, press a button and let gravity drive the bottom open as all the detriment leaves). All this translates into saving time.
Plus the addition — make that lessening instead — of the noise levels by some 30% translates into less headaches for those inclined to same. Or to put this another way, all of the bits that make up the Small Ball push it towards its being used and used more frequently than those “big” vacuum cleaners. Because it’s easier to take out, easier to move around and easier to deal with.
A strong reason for the maneuverability of the Small Ball is in how it actually is moved by the person using it. Other vacuums rely on a certain amount of brute force to “push” the vacuum around, and this can be taxing as well as aggravating, especially when it comes to maneuvering around corners. The Small Ball features the same technology as found in previous, larger models and this makes for better maneuverability, with more efficiency and less strain. With all this said, it’s still important to note that “manual” use of the suction is provided through a long reach of 42 feet for the cable, wand and hose. That takes care of getting to those hard to reach areas, be it under a table or couch or in a corner or baseboard or along a wall.
For $399 retail you’re provided with all the “oomph” that makes for the positive experience Dyson vacuums provide. Short of Rosie the Robot from the Jetsons doing it for you, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of positivity that a successful vacuuming provides. The Small Ball Multi Floor Vacuum Cleaner is the one that does that in a smaller package that many will find big in their household cleaning life.
