A Cincinnati vs. St. Joseph’s live stream online and TV matchup will be presented on Friday night as part of the ongoing 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament coverage. The Bearcats come in off a devastating multiple-overtime loss in the AAC Tournament while St. Joe’s comes in as champions of their conference. The winner of this game, which will feature a No. 8 and No. 9 seed battling it out, advances to the second round of the tournament. Both teams seem hungry for the win and a shot to move farther into the brackets, with a shot at making it into the Sweet 16 on Sunday. Fans will be able to watch the NCAA tournament live stream and televised game thanks to the free March Madness apps or website available for viewers.
The ESPN.com website reported on March 18 that this will be the first game played by the Cincinnati Bearcats since they lost a thrilling four-overtime contest to the Connecticut Huskies. That game ended 104-97 in favor of UCONN, who eventually went on to win the American Athletic Conference title. Cincinnati nearly had the game won in three overtimes, but a late buzzer beater heaved from three-quarters court kept the Huskies going for the final and deciding session. In the loss, guard Troy Caupain had a total of 37 points, a career-high and he indicated that the game “was not a loss where we keep our heads down. That game is going down in history.” Now Caupain, who leads the team in scoring and assists per game, will try to take down an overachieving St. Joe’s squad in Spokane, Washington.
Caupain and the Bearcats will take on No. 8 seed St. Joseph’s as part of the West region’s final first round matchup on Friday night. The Hawks finished out their season 27-7 and fourth overall in the Atlantic 10 conference, but went on to win the conference title, defeating two NCAA tournament teams in the process. That included an 87-74 win in the final game against VCU led by the tandem of DeAndre’ Bembry and Isaiah Miles, who combined for 56 points and 17 rebounds. Cincinnati will provide them with a tough defensive test as the Bearcats are currently No. 10 in the nation in scoring defense, holding opponents to just 62.9 points per game. Will this Hawks team have the fire power to overcome that defense or will Cincy be too much for them?
