For three days this summer, Toyota Park, in Bridgeview, will host a heavy metal music fest securing the top acts of the metal world with opening night kicking off with headliner German rock band Rammstein. Rammstein hasn’t played in the Chicago area since 2012 and their appearance at Chicago Open Air will mark their only 2016 U.S. performance.
“Rammstein is an act that is headlining major festivals all over the world,” says Chicago Open Air producer Danny Wimmer. “I’ve been trying to get Rammstein here for years and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to launch Chicago Open Air with them. If you’ve never seen Rammstein LIVE before, you are in for a real treat.”
In addition to Rammstein, the full lineup includes such powerhouses as Ministry, Disturbed, Slipknot, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Five Finger Death Punch, Helmet, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage and Corrosion of Conformity. The full line up can be viewed here.
Chicago Open Air offers a unique food and drink experience for festival goers. The Craft Beer Tent includes seven breweries Goose Island, Half Acre, Iron Maiden Trooper Beer, Laugnitas, Revolution, Surly Brewing Co. and Two Brothers Brewing. The food booths are not your typical Chicago outdoor music fest food booths and include what Chicago Open Air has coined as #gourmetmanfood. This includes a range of food from gourmet grilled cheese to signature tamales to lobster eats as well as basic favorites with a gourmet twist such as beef and duck fat fries, sweet and salty ice cream bars and artisan pizzas.
