Most folks have heard about television shows “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “The Real Housewives of Orange County” and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” But the Falcon Theatre and Roger Bean Productions takes the concept to the stage with “The Real Housewives of Toluca Lake: The Musical.” With book, music, and lyrics by Molly Bell, arrangements and additional music by Dolores Duran-Cefalu, and directed by Roger Bean, this local take on “Housewives” is the fifth production of the Falcon’s 2015-2016 Season.
The cast includes Adrienne Visnic, Cynthia Ferrer, Marc Ginsburg, Anita Barone, and Jenna Coker-Jones.
“Meet the wives: Joanne, Babette, Penny, Lulu, and Beezus: The Real Housewives of Toluca Lake. These ladies have it all. Or do they? Scandalous surprises and bitter betrayals mix with a healthy dose of Pinot Grigio and pharmaceuticals to create this hilarious romp inspired by America’s not-so-secret guilty pleasure. Come and climb the social ladder with our wives in this delicious musical parody, featuring an original score guaranteed to knock your stilettos off!”
Bell is a writer and composer living in Northern California. Creator of two musicals, “Real Housewives” and “Becoming Britney” (part parody, part homage to Britney Spears) she is also a veteran stage actress. She says she particularly enjoys working in the early stages of musicals and helped create roles in “Memphis, Vanities The Musical,” Andrew Lippa’s “A Little Princess” and many more. For the past four years, Molly has consulted with Netflix on inspiring corporate events and has done similar work for Ebay, PriceWaterHouseCoopers, Fleet Feet and more. Her next musical, “Prince of Your Dreams,” a parody of “The Bachelor” is currently in the works.
Bean is the creator and director of the Off-Broadway hit “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” which played a record-setting 18 months in LA (Ovation Award for Best Musical) and has had over 300 productions throughout the country. Bean created two sequels: “Winter Wonderettes” and “Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns,” and a third “Wonderettes: Dream On” will premier this summer at Stages Rep in Houston.
