Pop the cork, present the award, Champagne Taittinger will flow at the 22nd Annual SAG Awards ceremony this Saturday, January 30th. Officially opening the SAG Awards Red Carpet, a magnum of Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française will toast this year’s nominees, carried throughout the night with 480 standard and 160 magnum bottles, celebrating Hollywood’s star power and storytelling from the past year.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards recognizes both motion picture and television achievements, just like the Golden Globe Awards, except that it is actors honoring actors. In addition to individual performances, which are divvied up in the television category between drama and comedy, awards are given for ensemble and stunt work, including a Life Achievement Award this year for Carol Burnett. This year’s nominees will socialize over cocktails, courtesy of Patrón Tequila and Ultimat Vodka, feast on Wolfgang Puck’s delectable menu of Grilled Chicken with Meyer Lemon Salsa and Lemon Scented Fingerling Potatoes, Farro and Black Rice with Mustard Greens, Currents and Toasted Pine Nuts, and Puffed Rice Crusted Salmon with Carrot-Ginger Pureee and Crispy Shiso Leaf, all accompanied by wine, Beringer Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Matua Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, and of course, Champagne Taittinger, before and during the ceremony at LA’s Shrine Exposition Center, which will air on TNT and TBS at 8pm EST/5pm PST.
Pouring their classic Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française for the 2016 SAG Awards, Vitalie Taittinger, Artistic Director and Global Spokesperson for the brand, feels it is a perfect fit. Taittinger says, “For Champagne Taittinger, it’s important to be here, because we are not only celebrating the movie industry, we are also here to share family values, and the SAG Awards has these values. It’s a ceremony between actors, and actors helping each other, it’s really a family history, too.” She notes that this sense of family, which is so important to the Taittinger brand, is embodied in the SAG Awards. So important, that Champagne Taittinger is donating two Methuselah size bottles, 6 liters each, which will be signed by the winning actors on Saturday night, to the online auction benefitting the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. The proceeds from this auction goes to children’s literacy programs and emergency assistance for performers in need.
One of the few remaining family owned and operated Champagne houses, Taittinger has distinguished itself in many ways. Champagne Taittinger uses about 50% estate grown grapes, harvested from over 750 acres in 34 different vineyards, including some very prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims regions. These sizable holdings, especially in Chardonnay vineyards, give Taittinger a high quality edge over other Champagnes. Taittinger’s signature style, elegant and fresh, comes from the larger percentage of Chardonnay used to blend their wines. In addition, the wines are often aged longer than required before release, adding to the delicacy and complexity of Taittinger’s champagnes. Champagne Taittinger has a very large portfolio of sparkling wines, from the classic Brut La Française non-vintage cuvée to the exceptional Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, a 100% Chardonnay wine produced only in the best vintages and aged 10 years on its lees.
Want to experience what Leonardo di Caprio and other stars are drinking? Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française is widely available, pick up a bottle and toast your favorite celebrity with this sparkling wine. This delicate bubbly tickles the nose with aromas of peach, white flowers, and brioche, while its tiny persistent bubble stream presents flavors of apple and pear, accented with notes of citrus zest and toasty almond. The blend of 60% Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier and 40% Chardonnay lends a touch of richness that makes it enjoyable by itself or with food.
