Universal Studios Orlando’s Celebration of Harry Potter was in full swing this weekend, featuring cast appearances and some new exclusive info from J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore. With so much Harry Potter to look forward to this year, a celebration of the series wouldn’t be complete without some mention of the upcoming play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
Fans got a behind-the-scenes look at the play through a video led by producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callendar. The video showcases the Palace Theatre, which will host the play, called “the obvious choice” due to its architecture, and also addressed the decision to split the play into two parts.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” begins previews this spring and will run through summer of 2017, picking up after the epilogue of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” and dealing Harry’s son Albus. It will be directed by John Tiffany and was written by playwright Jack Thorne, while musician Imogen Heap serves as composer. While the trio has been cast, no other casting announcements have been made.
