Carnival Cruise 101: What are the different alcoholic beverage options?

by byte clay

When cruising with Carnival Cruise Lines you have a variety of different beverage options available to you. This includes alcoholic options that help make it possible to get the beverages you want without costing a small fortune purchasing individually. Because you cannot bring alcohol with you when you board the ship, you are given these different options. Some options include purchasing packages to be delivered to your room when you arrive, purchasing individual beverages at the bar, signing up for the bar beverage package and buying from the Fun Shops.

Fun shops

Before you leave for your cruise you can shop from the Fun Shops and order all of your alcoholic beverages and extras. These items will be in your room upon your arrival and area ready to enjoy. Some beverage options you will find on the Fun Shops website – Port Side Liquor – include ice cold beer, hard lemonade, champagne, wine and a variety of liquors. You can also have some soda, juices and mixers delivered to your room so you can make your favorite mixed drink concoctions.

Cheers!

The Cheers! Beverage Program is a prepaid bar package you can enjoy while cruising with Carnival. It makes it possible to enjoy one flat price for all of your alcoholic purchases on board. Just keep in mind there are a few exclusions. Check with the bartender upon boarding the cruise for those exclusions. The cost of the Cheers! program at the time of publication was $54.95 per day, per person when you purchase on board the ship. If you purchase before boarding the cost is $49.95 per person, per day.

Wine from home

One bottle of standard 750ml of wine or champagne is allowed per person. In order to bring a bottle of wine or champagne with you, you must be at least 21 years of age or older. Bottles must be in a carry-on bag. If you bring a bottle of wine with you on board, there will be a corkage fee charged. This charge is $10 per bottle in the main dining room and $14 per bottle in the steakhouse.

Alcohol from Fun Shop and ports of call

If you purchase alcohol from the different ports of call or in the Fun Shop on the ship, your items are held for you until the morning you disembark. Your items will be stored for safekeeping. All retained items will be available for pick up in a designated lounge area on the morning of debarkation.

Champagne auctions

If you want to sip on some champagne, take time out of your cruise to enjoy the Champagne Art Actions. Depending upon the length of your cruise, you will be able to enjoy a glass of champagne just about every day you are sailing. Glasses of champagne are free to anyone (21 and older) who attends the art auctions hosted by Park West Galleries.

Bottomless Bubbles

If you are not looking for alcoholic beverages during your cruise, but do not want to drink only juice, water and iced tea, you can purchase soda while cruising. If you plan on drinking a lot of soda while sailing you will want to take advantage of the Bottomless Bubbles program. This program gives you unlimited ice-cold refreshments during meals, shows and anytime during the cruise that you want to get one. Sodas from the Bottomless Bubbles program can be purchased at the Lobby Bar, pool bars and in the Casino. As well as at any of the restaurants on board. The cost of Bottomless Bubbles (at the time of publication) is $6 per day per adult and $4.50 per day per adult.

When you board your Carnival Cruise you will have a variety of options to enjoy alcoholic beverages. It is important to know what your options are before you board the ship. Because if you know your options before sailing, you might be able to save some money and make plans to have it in your room when you arrive.
