To be called the next Taylor Swift could in fact be one of the highest compliments for a female artist to receive. According to several media outlets such as BroBible and Daily K Pop news, Carly Pearce could be following in the footsteps of the country to pop star crossover queen. We of course don’t doubt it. Kentucky native, Carly Pearce moved her way to Nashville at the age of nineteen to pursue her dreams. She grew up with bluegrass roots, and a family that instilled her with a love for music.
“There’s really never been a day of my life that I can remember that music wasn’t ‘it’ for me,” says Pearce. “ My mom tells me that I was singing before I was talking and the only thing that would stop me from crying as a baby was country music. Music is in my blood.” This doesn’t come surprising when you hear the country newcomer on an album or watch her perform on a stage. It’s seemingly obvious that she lives and breathes the music she creates.
Certainly, Pearce didn’t become a familiar face in Nashville over night. Perseverance and hard work have always been engrained in the Kentucky girls artistry. Before making the move to Nashville, Pearce took a different direction. Instead, she packed her bags and headed to Pigeon Forge. “I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to grow into myself as a true entertainer. I auditioned to perform at Dollywood, and when I got a part, my mom and I moved there,” she states looking back on the experience. “I finished high school in between performing six shows a day, with only one day off a month. I spent one year at Dollywood and another at a theater called Country Tonight. My time performing in Pigeon Forge was equivalent to going to college before coming to my final stop, which I always knew would be Nashville.”
Pearce released a stunning debut EP in May of 2015, and is still doing everything she can to rise to the top. She has made appearances in almost every venue in Music City, and also appeared several times on the Chris Burkmenn Experience, a web show showcasing new and upcoming artists in Nashville. The singer also appears on The Josh Abbott Band’s newest album Front Row Seat in the song “Wasn’t That Drunk”. She’s killing it on and off stage as a front runner in country music, and everyone outside of Nashville is starting to take notice.
Pearce appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this year with the Josh Abbott Band, and she isn’t slowing down anytime soon. It’s only a matter of time when the entire world takes notice of her genuine spirit, and musical craft. She brings a powerful voice to country music, and when it comes to being a woman in the music industry, she tries to not to focus too much on gender, but on the story she’s trying to convey through the songs she writes.
Nothing is impossible when it comes to Pearce, the artist, who, rest assured, hasn’t yet to reach her peak. The world of country music better get used to having her around because she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Carly Pearce is a force to be reckoned with, and could indeed be the next Taylor Swift.
