Let’s face it, most of us have been impacted by the devastating effects of cancer in one way or another. Though we may not have to deal with it personally, many of us know individuals who do whether it be a friend or family member. According to the American Cancer Society, more than one million people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year. The disease is no respecter of persons and ravishes the lives of countless individuals regardless of age, race, or status. In response, there has been an outpouring of support by organizations all over the world to fund research efforts to raise money for a cure. Hammy Media is one such organization who set out on a mission to help after the death of entertainer Hollie Stevens who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2012. Hammy Media approached several large foundations to donate and found their attempt to assist denied. Why you ask? Well, because Hammy Media happens to be an adult entertainment company and founder of popular adult entertainment website xHamster, many major foundations refused to accept their donations. The company never imagined that a charity would refuse a donation because of their industry but unfortunately, it happened.
In October of 2015, Hammy Media launched their “Free the TaTa’s, a breast cancer awareness fundraiser that was met with an outpouring of support from fans on social media. Additionally, the company reached out to various major organizations to donate the money raised via the fundraiser and they all refused to accept the company’s help. After facing one roadblock after the next, Hammy Media launched “Cancer Doesn’t Care” in 2015 as a foundation dedicated to supporting Cancer research and treatment for adult entertainers or any individual who feels overlooked by large organizations due to their profession, gender or life choices. Hammy Media is committed to not only raising awareness of this issue, but leading the charge to ensure that these individuals do not continue to receive undue neglect and obtain the support they deserve. The adult entertainment industry has mourned the loss of friends, family and colleagues so this is a cause that hits close to home and Hammy Media and the xHamster team refuse to back down to organizations more concerned with protecting their corporate sponsorships than working together to help find a cure for everyone.
In November of 2015, the company launched their “Movember” campaign to raise awareness about men’s health. November is a month when men all over the world grow their moustaches to show their support for cancer research and awareness. With the help of “Movember” spokesman Ron Jeremy, Hammy Media was successfully able to raise money to donate to the cause. Men all over the world posted selfies of their manly mustache to show support with the hashtag #movember #moxhamster. For every picture posted Hammy Media donated $10 to Cancer Sucks, a non-profit organization established in 1998 by Rick Horton of Bixby, Oklahoma. Cancer Sucks was founded out of the pain and frustration that comes from losing a loved one to cancer, combined with the desire to do whatever is necessary to prevent anyone from experiencing the same loss. With the help of fans and supporters around the globe, Hammy Media is dedicated to launching a campaign highlighting a different type of cancer each month. The company is committed to ensuring that survivors from all walks of life and their families receive the support and treatment to fight this horrible disease, but they cannot do it alone. Join Hammy Media in the fight by becoming an event sponsor, selling merchandise for donations, or starting individual fundraisers to help the affected victims and their families. Cancer doesn’t care about the lives it takes, but we as a society must care and put aside our differences to come together to help those who need it most!
