Do we want it to, do we need it to? And why would we let that happen? Think of the movie Terminator and Animal Farm where animals take over the humans. Why are human beings always looked upon as inferior or something to be taken over? A human being s do we have something the machines or AI wants? A better construct of the world and life on earth I feel is not going to come from a machine raised by a human being.
Consciousness, human that is can be transferred to any place and time to gather data. This is not AI doing it for themselves. Look at the movie Men who stare at goats, “their gentleness is their strength.” The book’s beginning tells how U.S. Army officers exploit paranormal phenomena to enhance the military intelligence. Remote viewing is just that idea, transferring your consciousness.
Dimitry Itskov is someone now who is downloading his personality to a robot that is capable of storing human personalities. An example would be the iPhone’s Siri. Siri is customer friendly-capable. Itskov told BBC Horizon if it is not true then he will not be immortal and will die.
There is so much more to being human that AI could conceive of. We all may have a connection and be of the One but we are not watered down versions of AI. Give us more credit than that. Just take any infant-child development college course for several years and you will see to which the extent we are important to each other in vitally subtle of super human proportions. If AI’s can take over white collar work then surely it can take over blue collar work just as well.
Science has no conscious; but science of conscientious men is science with a conscious. There is no free will in the moral sense; scientists put themselves on a pedestal as wooden men who can be manufactured and will serve it well. Siri is developed to be customer service friendly. Her manufacturers want you to be able to hear her friendliness in her voice.
To be human is to be embodied. When you are feeling an emotion it is something that is happening to your body, in your body, when you are upset, your stomach feels ill, your forehead may be wrinkled, your lips thin, your heart beats quicker along with the breath. To be able to feel these kinds of things together with a friend, lover, student, when you have a “partner in crime,” I like to call it. Someone who drinks whiskey with you and the both of you are able to giggle over the same things together. That is why I say it is no fun to drink alone. It is not as fun as when you have two like minds giggling and tripping over words and the floor together.
AI on Start Trek was rather “human-like” but there were places when the character simply would draw the line and could go no further into the human experience. The human gesture as a clock, talks about Northwestern Amazonian people who communicate by pointing to the sky and saying what time it is when the sun is in a certain position in the sky. The body is an antenna and there is no denying its wisdom for the subtlest nuances in interpreting is inner and outer complex dimensions. Such things are getting scientist to think about our words and language. People talk expressively with their hands as a person would interpret and move the energy in Qigong or Tai Chi. Even someone who is blind will talk expressively with the hands similar to what their family or relatives may do.
I still believe a new language or new words are needed, because the categories and how things in life have been interpreted in the past and separated needs updating. Changes to allow for the new science that talks about all of these kinds of conscious, quantum, spiritual and even AI experiences. Everyone may not be right but everyone may not be wrong either, scientists and the metaphysical. It would be wonderful to have a meaning that people could all see we connect on instead of that “us versus them” split. Words that empower both sides and the outer concourses and even the lunatic fringes of society instead of taking away our power as was said in the beginning of this article, animals or robots taking us over.
We need to discover the self, self-knowledge, and to know your own sensations, thoughts beliefs and the rest of our mental states. AI cannot go there mechanically. Human beings can go there spiritually or by way of the soul or consciousness. A machine is not seeking to gin intelligence and one up on humans. We are who gave the robot intelligence and we are the ones feeding it. We are already coexisting on the planet with something that is a million times higher. It is not robot. This is why this search for the God particle is bothersome. Does science wish to replicate God? Does it think it can? An intelligence explosion this is not.
Sarah Connor, the mother in the science fiction movie The Terminator, makes a great speech about the robots and their presence. While she is reflecting on “The Machine” as a Father Figure she implies in her thoughts that he will never leave him, he would always be there and never get drunk and hit him or be too busy to spend time with her son, and would die to protect him. In this crazy world “the machine” would be the only thing that would show up and make sense, it was the sanest choice in this crazy world.”
In the movie Skynet, fictional Artificial Intelligence, is a computer system defense developed for the military by a company called Cyberdyne Systems. Skynet is a Global Information Grid/Digital Defense Network, which has command over all of the military computers, B-2 stealth bomber and its nuclear weapons arsenal. The plan was in its creation to make sure there was no human error and to ensure an efficient way to respond to an enemy attack on the United States. Skynet gains self-consciousness and seeks an all-out attack on humankind to preserve its coding.
Singularity is the point in which AI intelligence exceeds human intelligence and Transhumanists are the people who advocate using technology to better ourselves. It’s just science fiction.
