Actress, activist and one of the world’s most famous movie stars Cameron Diaz appeared at Live Talks LA to discuss her new book The Longevity Book with filmmaker Nancy Myers. Nancy who also happened to direct Cameron in her movie The Holiday, asked some of the burning questions that women in society have always wanted or needed to know about the aging process and taking care of our bodies from an early age. Cameron’s first book The Body Book was released in 2013 and became a #1 New York Times Bestseller and instantly cemented her image as a role model and inspiration for women all over the world with her realistic and positive outlook on life.
The Longevity Book covers the science of aging and what we can do on a daily basis to preserve our health and the number one most important factor being sleep, where 7 hours is considered to be a healthy dose of shut eye. After interviewing several doctors, nutritionists and scientists, Cameron put all of her own wisdom and input from the professionals she spoke to and included some of the most vital information you can wish to read in this inspirational book. Along with author, Sandra Bark, both her and Cameron collaborated on this miracle book that teaches us to become more aware of what we are putting into our bodies, the risks of neglecting it and also being happy in our own skin, no matter what age we are at.
When Cameron turned 39, she emphasized to the audience at the Ann and Jerry Moss Theatre, how she looked forward to her journey of getting older, but how others would often ask her if it worried her especially being that she is an actress in Hollywood. Although at first she didn’t really concern herself over what society thinks is the right age or the cut off point for women, but she did feel a little hurt that it would become such a forefront in the business she is in, instead of just focusing on one’s talent. After all, some of the most graceful women like Helen Mirren and Sophia Loren still look incredible and have remained true to what they stand for as actresses, which is really refreshing considering the amount of pressure women have on them.
Cameron refused to let the myths of aging and negativity crowd her positive way of thinking in life and chose to direct her energy into helping and empowering others to a more fulfilling life. The Longevity Book focuses on understanding our bodies at the cellular level. One of the most important daily routines Cameron swears by, is at least 20 minutes a day of meditation. She also points out how important it is for women to put as much effort into their inner beauty and strength, instead of just focusing on the exterior. At 44 and now happily married, Cameron Diaz exudes health and happiness and it is was truly an honor to hear such great advice and positive words from one of the world’s most beautiful, natural and down to earth women!
