A simple plaque, that always draws this author in, says:
“When you’re lonely, I wish you love. When you’re down, I wish you joy. When you’re troubled, I wish you peace. When things are complicated, I wish you simple beauty. When things are chaotic, I wish you inner silence. When things look empty, I wish you hope,” (Anonymous).
It is easy to imagine God saying this verse with just a few minor changes, to instead say:
“When you’re lonely, I surround you with my love. When you’re down, I bring you joy. When you’re troubled, I am your peace. When things are complicated, I surround you with simple beauty. When things are chaotic, I bring you inner silence. When things look empty, I bring you hope.”
God is always there. He knows everything that is needed. He is aware of the struggles, hardships, sorrows, depression, and bleak times. He is also knows of the joys, hopes, dreams, treasured moments, and opportunities that are a part of life. God acts as a balance to all of this. He provides whatever is needed. All that is needed is for one to believe. Prayer acts as a tool for sharing needs, wants, hopes, and desires.
The video, that accompanies this writing, is something that everyone can relate to at one time or another. The silence and solitude of a cemetery. The grief. The loss. The sadness. The loneliness. It is all there. But, for those who remain, life goes on. It requires strength and diligence to carry on after the death of a loved one. God helps with all of this–and more.
Psalm 145: 8-21 says,
The Lord is loving and merciful, slow to become angry and full of constant love. He is good to everyone and has compassion on all he made. All your creatures, Lord, will praise you, and all your people will give you thanks. They will speak of the glory of your royal power and tell of your might, so that everyone will know of your mighty deeds and the glorious majesty of your kingdom. Your rule is eternal, and you are king forever. The Lord is faithful to his promises; he is merciful in all his acts. He helps those who are in trouble; he lifts those who have fallen. All living things look hopefully to you, and you give them food when they need it. You give them enough and satisfy the needs of all. The Lord is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity. He supplies the needs of those who honor him; he hears their cries and saves them. he protects everyone who loves him, but he will destroy the wicked. I will always praise the Lord; let all his creatures praise his holy name forever,” (1978, Good news bible with deuterocanonicals/apocrypha, New York, NY: American Bible Society).
God is always there. Call on God to provide love, joy, peace, simple beauty, inner silence, hope, and so much more.
