What is Premiere Market? Well, in the Texas Brazos Valley it’s a fundraising opportunity for the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra. Although it’s been held once a year for four years, many people in the area are hearing about Premiere Market for the first time this year.
Premiere Market is scheduled to run Friday, April 15, though Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Brazos County Expo Center in Bryan, Texas. At the market you’ll find unique, imaginative, and upscale items to buy in the arenas of fashion, home design, food, books, and more. On Saturday (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 4:00 p.m.), general admission is only $5.
But wait, there’s more! On Sunday, the market opens at 10:00 a.m. with no admission charge from 10:00 a.m. to noon, when vendors will offer discounts and specials to customers. You can sign up for a Sneak Peek Preview Party on Friday evening, April 15, for $35. You can arrange VIP shopping on Saturday morning for $15. You can attend the “Dressed to a Tea” fashion show and luncheon on Saturday for $55. Some special events require advance reservations, so check the Premiere Market website for more information.
“Word about the market is getting around the country, and merchants from all over want to be a part of it,” says Mary Koeninger, executive director of BVSO. “We have vendors from Chicago, Nashville, Oklahoma, and elsewhere this year. In addition, of course, to old friends coming back. I enjoy seeing all the new items for sale each year. With this many vendors, there are always items to fit every pocketbook.”
The market is changing things up to make sure there’s something for everyone this year. In addition to special events, both Saturday and Sunday shopping hours will offer mini-seminars on a variety of topics presented by some vendors. Products added for sale this year include more food-related items—especially in-demand barbecue sauces and rubs—as well as books by regional authors and an increased number of menswear items. “Bacon, Bloody Marys, and Bargains” is a new event to be held on Sunday featuring bacon-themed foods during a free shopping period.
Premiere Market gives you a chance to find special gifts (for yourself or someone else), with plenty of time to make up your mind while you browse, and support a worthwhile organization at the same time. All vendors contribute part of their income to the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, and overall proceeds from the event benefit the cultural and education programs of BVSO. Plan to come and enjoy everything the market has to offer. After all, you may need a little diversion right after income tax deadline day.
