On Dec. 8 Electronic dance music artist Nick Terranova, more commonly referred to by the production alias Starkillers, announced the launch of a ‘#Back2Basics’ marketing campaign for his recording label, Brawla Records, which promises fans the delivery of a free download of new music each week in honor of #FreeMusicFriday.
Diverging from the monotony of ‘big-room’ tracks which have been over-saturating the dance music industry in recent years, Brawla’s campaign intends to take fans ‘back to the basics’ of dance music’s roots with a number of classic free house tracks and techno releases. The campaign, which made an auspicious debut with the first free download release last week titled, ‘Missing’ features new and up-and-coming artists Kyodee as he joins forces with The Wulf and Baggi.
‘Missing,’ which is a revival of the 1994, Everything But the Girl vocal by Tracey Thorn (also called ‘Missing’) modernizes the classic house track to present-day time and embodies Brawla’s cutting-edge sound in the delivery of each of its releases. The track, which marks Kyodee and The Wulf’s collaborative debut on Brawla Records, establishes a firm precedence for what the recording label plans to unleash to fans to its fans each and every week. The Wulf who has been having a monumental year thus far as a breakthrough artist, is also known for the recent hit tracks, ‘Good Vibes’ and ‘De Puta Madre’ with fellow Spinnin Records’ artists Kryder and Tom Starr.
Adding to its giveaways, the recording label, which takes pride in placing music and fans at the heart of its forefront, will be surprising a select number of those who participate in the #Back2Basics and #FreeMusicFriday hash-tagging with free ‘Brawla’ gear in addition to free tickets to upcoming Brawla shows. ‘#Back2Basics with Brawla,’ which is expected to continue into the new year and span across a remarkable four months, will provide fans with the perfect soundtrack to send them into festival season and escape the long and arduous winter months.
In response to Brawla Records’ #Back2Basics campaign announcement, Founder of Brawla Records Nick Terranova stated in a press release, “House and Techno music is at the backbone of this industry and what better way to revitalize its essence than taking the monetization out and sharing with fans its enduring qualities that continue to have a grasping affect on me and so many others.”
