The chill of winter is slowly melting away, and in many parts of the world, spring is just around the corner. This means warmer weather, and fewer clothes for many women. But if you’re suffering from embarrassing cellulite that you don’t want others to see, you may be tempted to continue covering up. This is only going to compound your suffering, because you’ll be wearing too much clothing in the warm spring (and, eventually, sweltering summer) months.
But you still have time to help yourself, and to save yourself the embarrassment of accidentally flashing those cottage cheese thighs in public. Take advantage of the following advice, and you can have your skin looking smooth and supple in a matter of weeks:
- Exercise, exercise, exercise! But not just any exercise. You have to focus on those exercises which a) build muscle in the parts of your body which are most prone to cellulite, and b) those exercises which can help you burn fat. Plyometrics, which include a lot of squats, jumps, and other leg-and-butt-centric exercises are perfect for this. And throwing in a little cardio can help burn away the fat that makes up the bulging, uneven cellulite deposits beneath the skin.
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Part of what exaggerates the appearance of cellulite is dry, damaged skin which lacks moisture and elasticity. So make sure you invest in a good moisturizing cream for your skin. And if it contains a specific, scientifically proven anti-cellulite formula, such as Cellulite MD, that’s even better!
- Pamper, pamper, pamper! Pamper the parts of your body which are affected by cellulite (like your legs and butt) with a relaxing, stimulating massage. You can do this by yourself at home in a relaxing sea salt bath, or you can splurge for a mechanical cellulite massage at a professional salon at your local boutique if you have the extra money. Not only does it feel good to pamper yourself with massage, but stimulating your skin in this way will help smooth away cellulite lumps and trigger your skin to rebuild itself stronger and firmer.
- Avoid scary, risky surgeries such as liposuction and invasive laser treatments. Yes, I broke the 3-word trend there, but I did it because this is a very important topic. For starters, many women are lied to and told that liposuction will get rid of their cellulite. In reality, though, liposuction won’t help at all – and in some circumstances, can even make cellulite look worse. Those invasive laser treatments are no better. Sure, they have a slightly higher success rate than some cellulite treatments, but they have a significantly higher rate of infection, pain, recovery time, bruising, and taking weeks upon months to see any good results…if you see them at all.
So, what’s the one thing all of these tips have in common? Every single tip involves taking care of yourself in one way or another. And the more time you dedicate towards taking care of you, the more likely you will be to show everyone else the best possible version of yourself: flawless, and cellulite-free.
