Kicking off this stellar season is a multi-talented artist who not only created some of television’s most popular cartoons, but a suave baritone with his latest album, ‘No One Ever Tells You.’ This Oscar and Grammy-nominated performer, ‘Opening Night with Seth MacFarlane’ will uplift Symphony Hall with selections from the American Songbook and other surprises Friday, May 6 at 8 p.m.
The Boston Pops takes the celebration to the dance floor with ‘Dancing with a Twist!’ With surprise guests and channeling the spirit of exhilarating shows like ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ ‘American Idol,’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ The Boston Pops features singers from these shows and explores tap, swing, ballroom, jazz, ballet, and more. See ‘Dancing with a Twist’ on Saturday, May 7 and on Mother’s Day on May 8.
Switching gears from the ballroom to rock superstars, The Boston Pops proudly presents ‘Classic Rock: From Beatles to Led Zeppelin’ featuring Boston band guitarist Tom Scholz from May 10 to 11 at 8 p.m. Hosted by WROR’s Loren and Wally, The Boston Pops offer two electrifying evenings honoring classic rock from the last 50 years from Chuck Berry to Queen to U2. This year has also been a tragic loss for tremendous musical talent and the Boston Pops will pay tribute to David Bowie and Glenn Frey from The Eagles.
Charismatic, sensationally-talented actor, artist, and tenor Mandy Patinkin has been performing on stage and screen for almost 40 years. As part of ‘Fidelity Investments Young Artist Competition Night’ and special guest at ‘Presidents at Pops,’ ‘An Evening with Mandy Patinkin’ takes place on Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8 at 8 p.m.
Join legendary musician Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys along with Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘Brian Wilson: Pet Sounds and Greatest Hits!’ These inventive, ground-breaking compositions changed the way people listened to pop music forever. ‘Brian Wilson: Pet Sounds and Greatest Hits’ will be held on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 at 8 p.m.
The Boston Pops also boasts the return of Pops On Demand where the audience takes the wheel navigating the music of the evening, the always phenomenal Gospel Night once again led by Charles Floyd, Film Night with John Williams as he shares the new compositions from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and much more!
