The legendary Bobby Brown is about to become a father for the seventh time and this time, the R&B singer wants things to be different. So different, in fact, that he checked into rehab for help so he can be a clean and sober dad for this child, and the rest of his family, according to Radar Online, Feb. 26, 2016.
A source told Radar Online, “Bob is in rehab.” Although anything about the rehab is unknown, the source believes the center is in California and that Bobby Brown is seeking help for alcohol and cocaine problems.
Bobby Brown’s attorney denied that the singer was in treatment for cocaine and/or alcohol problems. However, when he was bluntly asked whether Bobby Brown was being treated for substance abuse, he commented that Mr. Brown would be in Charleston, S.C. on March 4, to perform as scheduled.
Bobby Brown has had trouble with substance abuse for many years and he claims that his former wife, the late Whitney Houston, was the one who introduced him to cocaine. Unfortunately, Whitney died in a bathtub of water while she was staying at a Beverly Hills hotel in Feb. 2012. A corners report confirmed that she had cocaine in her system at the time of her death.
Bobby Brown told NBC’s host on “Today” show that he had been clean for seven years. However, Whitney Houston’s death set him back and he began using again. He checked into rehab in August 2012, but apparently did not stay long enough to overcome the drug cravings because he was pulled over by police in February 2013, and charged with driving under the influence.
Bobby pled “no contest” and he was sentenced to an 18-month rehabilitation program so he could become clean again. He was also required to serve 55 days in jail, but he was released after serving only approximately nine hours.
In 2015, tragedy struck again, but this time, it was Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Just like her mother, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub of water on January 31. Her boyfriend Nick Gordon and his friend managed to pull her out of the tub and dial 911.
Bobby Brown stayed by his daughter’s side as she was kept on life support and he was one of the people who had to make the painful decision to take her off life support and allow her to die with dignity. Through it all, Bobby remained hopeful that his daughter would come back to him, but in July 2015, Bobbi Kristina passed away in hospice.
Bobby Brown and his current wife Alicia Etheredge, are expecting their third child together. Congratulations to Bobby Brown and Alicia Etheredge on this wonderful, joyous news.
