Wednesday’s Blackhawks vs. Blues live stream online and televised 2016 NHL Playoffs game will feature the reigning champions beginning their quest for another Stanley Cup title. Chicago comes into this matchup having won three titles in the past six seasons, continuing to etch their names in the history books as one of the best franchises. St. Louis is still looking for their first championship, having been to the finals three times and but never hoisting the trophy. The two teams didn’t meet last postseason, but Chicago eliminated the Blues 4-2 in the 2014 postseason. Which team takes this series in their latest first round series? Tonight’s 2016 NHL Playoffs live streaming and televised coverage comes via the NBC Sports Network.
According to ESPN.com in their April 12 report, the Blues ended with a second-place finish in the Central two seasons ago and had the home-ice advantage for a first round series against Chicago. However, the Blackhawks were able to win the series in six games, after trailing in the series 0-2. That meant four-straight wins, including one at the Scottrade Center. Four of the games in the series also went to overtime sessions, with each team claiming two of those. This latest series could be another hard-fought first round playoff matchup between these two teams, as key personnel are making their returns. Among them will be Chicago goalie Corey Crawford, who will return after a month off due to an upper-body injury.
Marian Hossa missed the regular season finale for Chicago but will be back on the ice tonight, but Duncan Keith will not. He will finish serving his six-game suspension for high-sticking Charlie Coyle of Minnesota, with tonight’s game the final game he needs to sit. St. Louis will likely have Brian Elliott minding the net for them, but there’s some possibility that Jake Allen also gets playing time. As for the players each team needs to watch out for, it’s Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews for the Blues to stalk, as well as Vladimir Tarasenko for Chicago to keep in check. St. Louis will be giving it their all as this team features many players who were part of a core making previous playoff appearances, but reportedly this may be the last time they’re all assembled on this team.
Vegas odds makers have St. Louis priced as a -125 favorite on the moneyline for tonight’s home opener in the series. As the underdog team, the visiting Blackhawks are priced at +100 to +120 at various sports books. The over/under goals total is set at five goals for the game. In their 2014 series, every game except one went over five goals total. Future odds listings currently have Chicago as the second favorite to win the Stanley Cup, with odds of 13 to 2, trailing only Washington (7 to 2). St. Louis is currently listed at 9 to 1 odds, ranking them fifth on the list.
