Episode “XX” of “Black Sails” opens with Captain James Flint (Toby Stephens) haunted by Miranda Barlow (Louise Barnes) in his dreams. Flint nearly destroys his crew and ship. He chooses to risk death than surrender to British rule. Crew members are sacrificed to save the remaining crew. Long John Silver (Luke Arnold) faces death in the bowels of the ship. Despite the dangerous watery peril, Flint delivers his crew into another deadly fate.
Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New) deals her way out of a possible hanging and back to Nassau. Unfortunately, Captain Benjamin Hornigold (Patrick Lyster) meets up with Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts). Rogers trusts no one. He has no qualms about letting it be known, but Rogers has his own unscrupulous secrets.
Edward Teach (Ray Stevenson) arrives in Nassau. His first order of business is to confront Captain Charles Vane (Zach McGowan). Vane and Teach have a long, twisted history between them.
Afterwards, Vane introduces Teach to one of his partners in Nassau, Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz). Rackham is the king of decadence. The decadence permeates Nassau. Teach is unimpressed. He laments about how weak Nassau has become because of prosperity and creature comforts. According to Teach, “Strife is good. Strife makes a man strong.”
Two of the brothel trio, Max (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Rackham, come to an agreement for the sake Anne Bonny (Clara Paget). They devise a secret plan for the Spanish Urca de Lima gold. Max believes it is only a matter of time before others arrive to take over Nassau, the fort and gold. She’s right.
The baddest captains around are gathering in Nassau, and the British are coming as well.
