Long-time Bristol residents all know the name “Big Eddie’s Deli,” formerly located on Euclid Avenue. Even longer-term residents may distantly recall when it was called “Big Daddy’s Deli” and was located on Commonwealth Avenue. Well. “Big Eddie’s” is under new ownership, and the new owners have tapped into the iconic eatery’ s roots, moving to the old Wing Doctor/Dairy Queen location just down the street from the original Big Daddy’s location. The new location even has the famous rocking chair that Big Daddy sat in years ago. Most importantly, the food and the service are still great.
The new location is a nice place to eat; the atmosphere is good. However, it is quite UN-auspicious in appearance. You might overlook it if you aren’t looking closely.
The employees are very helpful and friendly. You get the impression that they are glad to have your business. When was the last time you really sensed that at any fast food place?
We ordered the traditional “Big Daddy” submarine sandwich with the red pepper sauce we all have loved through the years. It is still amazing. We will try the boiled hamburgers we have always loved next time. And, we were treated so well, there will certainly be a next time.
