Last night’s Discovery Channel episode of “Bering Sea Gold,” was titled “Pressure.” As the episode begins, Derek McLarty is about to launch his dredge called the High Noon. Derek has worked on several dredges and now is the captain of his own new twelve-inch dredge that is large enough to suck in someone’s head.
Shawn is on the Christine Rose trying to find more gold. So far, he has been unsuccessful since last week’s find. Shawn is worried that his workers, and the family may suffer because Steve takes all the gold. Finally, after several hours prospecting, Shawn finds the gold.
On the Reaper, the Kelly family is together again. Brad convinced his sons to rejoin him on the claim he purchased for $10,000 “of his own money.”
On the Eroica, Emily has the dredge back up and running after a flooded pontoon and broken communications box. Suddenly, Emily hears a loud noise when the sluice box fell off. Daryl came up after a good six hours of dredging. Daryl is losing faith in Emily because he makes his living off the gold he finds and will go elsewhere if things do not pay off.
On the Havilah, Zeke Tenhoff has only brought up eight ounces of gold, and his master is watching. Jesse, a diver on the Havilah is ready to dive. He finds huge rocks and jams the hose with rocks. Once Zeke clears the hose, the big rocks continue to come up and Jesse is having a hard time avoiding the biggest ones.
On the Christine Rose, Shawn has his step brother Brent Wacker take over at the excavator, but Brent was shaking the whole dredge trying to dig too hard. Suddenly, Shawn notices the pin supporting the excavator has snapped in half and must be replaced immediately.
After a four-mile trek, the Reaper has arrived at their claim. As the drag the bottom, they feel nothing by sand. Kris was hoping to hit cobble.
On the Havilah, with a quota to meet, Jesse Solomon is still jamming the hose with rocks. Zeke’s inexperienced divers are not working out so Zeke will have to come up with another plan.
Shawn went to his father’s operation in hopes of finding another pin but finds his dad sitting around drinking. Derek McLarty and his crew christen the High Noon and off. they go. Emily is now living in a building that was once a hospital. With real estate in Nome not easy to come by, she found one reasonably priced. Here they do the clean out and Emily is hoping for big numbers. The clean out brings just over ten ounces, far from what Daryl expected.
The High Noon has been tested, and all systems are a go. One out of thirty new conceptual designs fails to produce gold. Now all Daryl has to do is find it.
On the Reaper, they were dragging the bottom for cobble and found out that they were on someone else’s claim the entire time on this episode of “Bering Sea Gold.”
