There is no denying that celebrities were lavishly basking in glamour as the fashion community rejoiced once the LA Fashion Awards got underway on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Back for a second successful year, the hour and a half award ceremony was held at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, California.
There were many well-deserving recipients taking to the podium to recite their gracious thank you speeches throughout the evening, and, beauty this infallible in one location does not come around often.
The talk of the evening centered around Lady Gaga who is having one remarkable year so far, collecting numerous awards in 2016 for her multi-faceted talent abilities. On this particular night, she accepted the award for Editor of the Year for her guest editor spot for V Magazine.
Of course, wearing just the right style to an event this prestigious, symbolizes how influential these attendees really are. The neutrals overtook the scene on this stylish evening with Kate Hudson in a black and white crop top and floor-length skirt by August Getty Atelier. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stunned in a black Alexandre Vauthier mini. Nicole Richie played MC for the evening and she definitely caught the attention of fashion critics in the room wearing a very sheer black Valentino gown with plunging neckline. J. Lo was the first presenter of the evening, dressed in a cultured white Ermanno Scervino dress. Guests certainly did a double-take on two rising stars who just happen to be sisters. Gigi Hadid resembled a Grecian goddess in a sheer white slip gown with very visible leaf-like embroidery. Sister Bella looked just as amazing in a singed black Moschino tuxedo dress, feeling very empowered on this particular evening. She accepted the award of Model of the Year, following in her sister’s footsteps.
Victoria’s Secret models, such as Alessandra Ambrosia, made a showing as did some of the Jenner/Kardashian clan including Kris and Kim. Highlights of the evening included Lady Gaga presenting good friend and personal designer, Brandon Maxwell, with the Designer Debut award. Actor Keanu Reeves, most of the time staying out of the limelight, was thrilled to be able to present designer Jeanne Yang with Men’s Stylist Award of the Year. Ironically, Reeves was the very first client for Yang. Jennifer Meyer, longtime friend of Kate Hudson accepted Best Jewel Designer of the Year.
There was no more appropriate way to end such an ostentatious evening than to bestow upon Mr. Karl Lagerfeld the Fashion Icon Award, well-deserved for the countless years of energy and creativity that he has contributed to the fashion world. This was the type of evening that makes fashion experts, such as Anna Wintour, extremely proud and make the rest of us crave for more magical fashion moments.
