The Recharge Autoseal insulated stainless steel travel mug by Avex will keep drinks hot for seven hours or cold for seventeen.
Constructed with an airless vacuum space between two walls of stainless steel, this insulated travel mug is built for performance. By eliminating a connection between the liquids and the exterior, this travel mug will be sweat-free while it keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. The unique rubberized base of the mug keeps it from sliding on flat surfaces while also making it quiet when set down. The Autoseal lid is the marvel of engineering that makes the Recharge drip and spill free. Placing the middle finger on the indented area around the mug provides for a slip-free grip and also locates the index finger right on the Autoseal’s actuation button. With a push of the button, the stopper opens and the drinking experience begins. An interesting feature is a built-in reservoir in the lid that provides for a smoother flow of liquid during use. A slide lock is available to lock the actuation button to prevent accidental spillage and the spout has a flip cover to protect it from dirt and grime. To assist in removing and replacing the top, Avex has thoughtfully added a rubberized ring to the Autoseal lid. For a full and complete cleaning of the internal parts of the lid, a mechanism releases the lid stopper. Once opened up, both parts of the Recharge mug can safely be cleaned on the top shelf of a dishwasher. The mug is BPA-free and designed to fit into most cup or bottle holders. It is available with a capacity of either 17 or 20 ounces. All Avex products come with a limited lifetime warranty.
Testing was done using a 17-ounce Recharge Autoseal travel mug on the road, at work and at play. After filling with hot tea, the lid was closed over the spout and the actuator button locked. Placed in a daypack, the mug came out at lunch as dry as it went in. The beverage inside was still piping hot after five hours. The author liked the feel of the mug, as it was only slightly warm to touch and fit the hand well. The indented section of the mug made it easy to grip and located the index finger right on the button. The built-in reservoir is a nice feature as it smooths out the flow of liquid coming from the spout. For a day of work, it was loaded with ice water and it remained cold throughout the day. The vacuum space eliminated all sweating of the mug, which was appreciated when it was set on a desk. The mug’s size was a perfect fit in the cup holder of both of the author’s cars and it also fit in a mountain bike bottle holder. Being able to thoroughly clean the mug in the dishwasher was certainly a plus.
Avex has taken the lowly travel mug to new heights with the Recharge Autoseal. It kept hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold over many hours, all without breaking a sweat. Making the Autoseal mug spill free is an added bonus.
