Well, it’s not that they really hate you. They just don’t care about what you think.
Let’s review the current nomination process.
Bernie Sanders has been surging in the polls. The latest polls on realclearpolitics show Clinton just +5.6 ahead of him. Actually, the latest Fox News poll shows Sanders ahead by +3. So, you would expect to see this translate into the delegate count, right?
Current total: Clinton 502, Sanders 70.
Whoa. Are the polls wrong? Hardly. If you take a closer look at the numbers, you will note that Clinton and Sanders have exactly the same amount of pledged delegates. The difference is in the Superdelegates! Of Clinton’s 502 delegates, 451 of them are Superdelegates. Sanders has a sad, sad 19 Superdelegates.
Super delegates for the DNC are not required to vote for the candidate who wins their state. Also, in the DNC, there are a lot of them. They make up 15% of the total delegate count. To compare, the Republican Superdelegates make up just 7% of their delegates and are required to vote for the candidate that wins their states.
Basically this gives a select few people, handpicked by the DNC, the power to tip favor to the candidate that the establishment wants in close elections. Like their very own personal super hero, Superdelegates! fly in to the rescue to save the DNC from having to support a candidate that their constituents might choose.
Of course it isn’t the first time the DNC has stolen the election for a candidate.
In 2008, Obama was handed the nomination from the DNC in a similar way. Obama took 463 Superdelegates compared to Clinton’s 257. However, that was not enough for the DNC to ensure their choice was the nomination. Luckily, FL and MI changed their primary voting date to an earlier date. The DNC used this as an excuse to discount the delegates from FL and MI, both states that Clinton had won, and later voted to include half of the delegates from those states, awarding Clinton 222 of the 444 pledged delegates she should have been awarded. The pledged delegate count was 1766.5 Obama, 1639.5 Clinton. Those 222 withheld votes would have put her over the top in pledged delegates. Remove the Superdelegates, or at least require them to vote for the candidate that wins their states, and Clinton wins the nomination.
To compare, the RNC counted all delegates.
I hate the idea of a Sanders candidacy with a fiery passion. Sanders is an admitted socialist with unrealistic ideas and false promises. Yet, I still cannot bring myself to ignore the DNC’s thievery.
Democrat voters, this is what your party thinks of you. They are convinced that you will never bother to look at the numbers, and not only just accept the candidate they force down your throat, but support that candidate with the mindless tenacity of a rabid dog protecting a slab of beef.
The Democrat party has always been the party of control and removal of personal freedoms. It appears not much has changed.
