Sam Anas of the Quinnipiac Bobcats has been named to College Hockey News’ 2015 All-CHN Second Team. Anas, a 5-8, 160-lb. forward from Potomac, MD, was previously named to the 2015-16 ECAC Hockey First Team as well as the NCAA All-Region team for his performance in the Albany Regional Tournament last week. Quinnipiac, ranked No. 1 in the nation for most of the season and top seeded overall in the NCAA Tournament, defeated UMass-Lowell, 4-1, to advance to its second Frozen Four appearance in four years. The Bobcats will face Boston College next Thursday, April 7, in the national semifinals to be played at Amalie Arena in Tampa. First puck drops at 5 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
Anas leads the Bobcats in goals (with 24), assists (26) and total points (50), and is tied for the team lead in power play goals (10). Last week, he picked up an assist in the Bobcats’ 4-0 win over RIT in the Albany region semifinals, and scored a highlight-reel goal that served as the final nail in the coffin in the Bobcats’ 4-1 victory over UMass-Lowell in the final. Anas was one of seven players to score a goal in 20 or more games this season.
