Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2015 was a huge success for Amazon as they set records for sales across several of their popular devices. According to a press release from Tuesday, December 1, 2015, this past holiday shopping weekend was the best ever for Amazon devices. Shoppers purchased millions of new Fire tablets, Fire TV devices, and popular Kindle e-readers causing sales to soar. This year, millions of people will be unwrapping one of the popular Amazon devices that are still being sold throughout the holiday season.
Amazon is just as excited about the shopping frenzy their devices created over the biggest holiday shopping weekend of the year as the people who will be receiving the gifts will be when they open them. “We’re excited that millions of customers will be opening new Amazon devices this holiday season. This has already been the biggest holiday shopping season for Amazon devices, and we’re energized by the year over year growth for all of our product categories,” said Dave Limp, Senior Vice President, Amazon Devices.
The new Fire Tablet ($49.99 on Amazon) was the big seller and holiday shoppers turned it into the fastest selling tablet in Amazon history. According to Limp, Amazon has hit the sweet spot in their tablet offerings. He said, “With a sub-$50 price point for one or $250 for a six-pack, we’ve reached a tipping point with Fire—it is our fastest-selling tablet ever. We’ve already built millions—and we’re ramping up production to build millions more.” In addition to the success of the new Fire tablet, Amazon tablet sales this weekend are up more than 3x year over year.
Fire TV devices (starting at $39.99 on Amazon) were the second most popular item after the new Fire tablet this weekend. Sales for Fire TV devices are up 6x year over year. For the months of July-October 2015, Fire TV has been the #1 bestselling streaming media player in the US across all retailers. Also, in its Black Friday debut this year, Amazon Echo ($179.99 on Amazon) was the #1 bestseller across all $100+ products on Amazon.com. In addition, customer purchased hundreds of thousands of Kindle e-readers this weekend.
Amazon continues offering Cyber Monday Deals Week through Dec 5 and will continue offering deals on its Kindle devices throughout the sale. Due to the popularity of some Amazon devices, shoppers will notice that a lot of them are out of stock.
