Alyssa Milano shut down Wendy Williams after her backwards views on breastfeeding were seen as a bit outdated by the actress, who recently visited Williams’ show. Milano gracefully showed Williams “Who’s the Boss” when it comes to breastfeeding your baby and that would be the breastfeeding moms around the world.
It didn’t take long for social media to offer up praise when backing up Milano, who is a breastfeeding mom herself. The actress was put in a spot where she had no choice but to shut down Williams’ outdated views by pointing out the error of her ways.
When Milano visited Williams on her show last week she became an instant champion for breastfeeding moms via social media. She wasn’t going to let Williams put a different connotation on the natural act of a mom supplying nourishment to her baby via the breast. As far as Williams was concerned, breasts had more of a sexual nature to her.
According to Good on January 11, many moms took to Twitter to offer a modern-day view on breastfeeding to Williams after she offered up much resistance at the thought of breasts coming out in public even for the natural act of feeding a baby. Some breastfeeding moms offered up a reprimanding words to the talk show host on social media.
Williams telling Milano that she doesn’t need to see a mother pull out her breasts and breastfeed has prompted moms from everywhere to share their breastfeeding pictures. One mom posted her pic that she took especially for Williams and she incorporated the help of her toddler as she sits breastfeeding her infant. Value Motherhood shows the mom breastfeeding the baby with her toddler standing next to her holding a sign saying “Wendy Williams This is for You.”
According to the Canada Journal, Williams was adamant about her distaste for seeing a mother breastfeed in public. She looks at breasts in a sexual nature more so than a method for feeding a baby. At one point in the segment she called them “fun bags,” which many pointed out on Twitter.
Williams told Milano about breastfeeding, “I don’t need to see that. I just don’t want to.” She also suggested that if it were her doing the breastfeeding she would take her baby to the car to eat. Milano came bit back with, “Why is it okay to share that photo of Miley Cyrus with two suspenders over her breasts?” Williams really didn’t have a comeback for that one.
Messages to Williams ran the gamut from moderate chastising to an all out bashing of the talk show host’s backwards views on breastfeeding. One Twitter user, eemarriedJaneen, addressed Williams tweeting, “Honestly saying breasts are only “fun bags” you’re why women aren’t taken seriously around the world. Go alyssa #WendyWilliams #alyssamilano”
Nicki Kaylor had a suggestion for Williams on her Twitter page saying, “#WendyWilliams is an idiot for bashing breastfeeding in public. #breastisbest OH & she should probably lay off the plastic surgery… Ew.” These are just two of the many social media postings reprimanding Williams after Milano gracefully shut Williams’ views down on national television.
Perhaps the best line of all is when Milano tells Williams, “lucky the baby isn’t here. I’d whip them out right here and feed her on the show” You just know she would too!
