The music industry entices many people to fame and fortune. Somewhere in America a girl quits her job, kisses her loved ones goodbye and climbs aboard a Nashville-bound Greyhound bus in search of their dreams. Those same girls arrive in Music City, USA with hopes of a contract. When three “Honky Tonk Angels” arrive at The Alhambra Theatre & Dining, they will sing 31 of country music’s favorite songs by Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton. You’ll be singing to “Stand by Your Man,” “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “Harper Valley PTA”, just to name a few tunes. This charming, foot-stompin’ musical has played to sold-out audiences across the country and now it’s coming to JAX.
“When Dolly Parton wrote this story, she had to have had a place like the Alhambra in mind, because it fits so well with what we do here,” commented Alhambra’s Managing Partner – Craig Smith. “Every single song will bring back a wonderful memory. Our guests will be singing along and dancing in the aisles, and Chef has outdone himself on making this menu a winner. This is a very fun and energetic show to start the season.”
About the Menu: Executive Chef DeJuan Roy creates a new menu for each show, and for Honky Tonk Angels, he will be cooking a country-style feast, “like nobody’s business.” The menu features a First course with a choice of: Brunswick Stew, or an Iceberg Wedge Salad with tomato, cucumber and candied bacon served with Ranch dressing. The second course includes: a choice of Aunt Mae’s Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens, or Rosemary-Seared Pork Tenderloin with warm kale and quinoa salad, or Seafood Newburg with white rice and jumbo asparagus, or White bean and Vegetable Chili with a fresh corn muffin (yes, the return of the Alhambra’s Seafood Newburg!). The Dessert course features a choice between Dutch Apple Cobbler or Honey Bun Cake.
