The ACC Tournament 2016 live stream online and televised games begin Tuesday for Round 1 of the Atlantic Coastal Conference’s march towards crowning this year’s champions. Two games will start things off at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., with the winners advancing to the next round to face higher-seeded squads with first round byes. That means four hopeful teams who are major underdogs in this tournament have a shot to gain some momentum and possibly shock the world. The ACC tournament live streaming online and televised action will be presented via the ESPN and ACC networks on Wednesday.
According to WRAL.com in their March 8 report, the first matchup of the tournament will feature the No. 13 seed Wake Forest taking on the No. 12 seed North Carolina State. Both teams finished the regular season with overall losing records and dismal records in the ACC. NC State was closer to .500 with a 15-16 record, but still just 5-13 in the ACC, while Wake Forest went 2-16 in the conference and 11-19 overall. The prize for winning today means whoever emerges victorious gets to face No. 5 seed Duke tomorrow in a second round matchup. Game time for NC State vs. Wake is set for 12 p.m. Eastern Time.
In the second game of the opening round, the lowest seed in the tournament, No. 14 Boston College, takes on the No. 11 seed Florida State. Without even looking at odds for this game, it’s clear that the Seminoles will be heavy favorites and a BC win would be considered an upset. The team went 0-18 in the conference and sits in dead last for the standings. They’ve won just seven games overall, while FSU could actually boost their resume if they start reeling off wins. The team was 18-12 overall this season, but had a disappointing 8-10 record in the conference. Game time is at 2 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday, with the winner getting No. 6 Virginia Tech tomorrow.
In terms of favorites today, odds makers have the NC State Wolfpack as 4-1/2 or five point favorites at various books with an over/under points total of 151-1/2 for the complete game. Florida State will be a 13-point favorite in the second game of the day with the points total at 136-1/2 for the game. None of these four teams are currently projected for the tournament or on the bubble according to Joe Lunardi’s “Bracketology,” but winning the conference will put any of these teams automatically into it and snag a bid from someone else.
Tuesday’s ACC Tournament 2016 action begins at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. Live television coverage of both games will be on the ACC Network and/or ESPN2 in the United States. Live streaming online coverage is available through the WatchESPN website or mobile apps for cable and satellite subscribers. There’s also SlingTV which offers a free 7-day trial signup deal and includes ESPN2 in its basic channel package. Live audio coverage of today’s game is available on Sirius XM Satellite Radio with game coverage of each game on channel 81 as of the game start times.
