As we look back at all that 2015 had to offer I must say the fashion gods truly shined bright on the everyday fashionista! Yes those fury mules by Fendi and extra wide brim floppy hat seen on almost every runway during the 2015 Spring Fashion Week were to die for but let’s be honest we need trends that can carry us from the board room to drinks with the girls.
“Fashion Month is always full of OMG moments, but we can’t deny how great it is to spot a trend that can be worn in everyday life.” says Nikki Ogunnaike of Glamour Magazine. Take the casual yet chic culotte for instance its a blast from the past that never gets old, they were hot then and even better now ” you can take the silhouette to work by pairing it with blazers, tailored button-downs, and high heels” Ogunnaike says.
As a fashion editor it’s always exciting to see that designers have heard the cries of my clients and women everywhere asking for more wearable but trendy fashion. And nothing screams wearable trends then the kimono. Kimono literally means “thing to wear” and that we did, designers took this classic Japanese dress and took it to new heights. The Row took a easy dressing philosophy, while designers like Tracy Reese and Thakoon offered a comfortable relaxed stylish mix to the trend which is always a bonus when it comes to looking and feeling confident in what you wearing.
One trend that seems to make its rounds just about every other year and has to be my fav, that is fringe. I’ve even implemented the trend into my home furnishings, “textural trimmings and unraveled hems are swinging onto the style scene this season with a lean that’s more modern bohemian than way out West. Think tasseled extras and fringed knits—worn with your favorite flares, of course.” ~Sarah Lindig Harpers Bazaar Needless to say although we have entered into a new year the trends of 2015 can easily be transitioned into 2016. We are only two weeks into the new year and I am joyously excited that Fashion Week is just around the corner, the spring collections that captivated us last September has started to hit stores and give us something to smile about as we perused the stores in our chuncky sweaters and heavy outerwear blissfully excited about the thought of wearing that floral wild child inspired DVF tunic (a spring staple). So hello Spring 2016 we await your fresh textures, flowing hemlines and personality packed prints…
When shopping always remember to look for transitional pieces, garments that can be worn season to season.
