A Great Big World played a fantastic set and brought the house down at 107.5 The River’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.
A Great Big World composed of Ian Axel and Chad King got the crowd on their feet during their set at 107.5 The River’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at The Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, TN on Dec. 19 and you can say they gained new fans. The show also featured Maddy Newton (a Nashville local performer), Coleman Hell, and Jojo who is making a strong comeback after the trouble of getting new music out to her fans.
I was lucky enough to make it out to this show and let me tell you it was worth it! I traveled for A Great Big World (the headliners) but also had the treat of seeing the other acts. I had never heard of Maddy Newton or Coleman Hell before. Unfortunately, I missed out on Newton’s set since I was taking part in the pre-show meet&greet with the main acts but Hell was okay. I wouldn’t travel out of my way to see him. I’ve been a fan of Jojo’s for quite sometime and it was a dream come true to finally see her live. She played some of her greatest hits including “Leave (Get Out)” and “Too Little Too Late” as well as the songs from her new EP titled III. Her voice is out of this world and you can check out the video playlist from her set here.
In between the changing of sets the radio station hosts had an ugly sweater contest and played games for prizes. It was a good distraction while the crew was changing the band sets for the next act.
The moment I’ve been waiting for finally arrived. A Great Big World hit the stage and opened with “All I Want Is Love” off their new album When The Morning Comes. The group played several songs from the new record which included “Oasis”, “Kaleidoscope”, “Come On”, “End of The World” and the leading single “Hold Each Other”, as well as old ones from their debut album Is There Anybody Out There. Axel and King were very interactive with the crowd as well as energetic. They were backed by their band Oscar Albis Rodriguez on guitar, Chris Kuffner on bass and Bruno Esrubilsky on drums, who were also having tons of fun on stage.
I’ve been a fan of these guys since “This is The New Year” was covered on Glee in 2013 and have gotten to see them a couple times before this show. It’s been a privilege to see them grow and mature as performers. They bring so much light and love into the world and it’s sad that they’re overlooked and underrated. Anybody with this much talent should be more known. I can’t express enough how much I love this band and they bring tons of passion to every performance they do. If you haven’t gotten the chance to see A Great Big World yet be sure to catch them on tour starting in March 2016. It’s a show you do not want to miss!
The duo announced that “Oasis” is the next single from the album and you can check out the performance from the night above. You can view the whole playlist from their set here. Overall, they proved that it’s always worth the traveling for them. Be sure to pick up their new album When The Morning Comes available everywhere now!
